<br />Ordinance No. 75-10 <br />Introduced by: Council as a Whole <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A <br />RECREATiON BOARD, REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 1054, AND <br />DECLARING AN EIfERGENCY <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Creation of Recreation Board. There is hereby established in the <br />municipality a Recreation Board, which shall have such powers and duties as may be <br />prescribed from time to time by ordinances of Council. <br />Section 2. Membership. The Recreation Board shall consist of 11 residents of the <br />municipality, one of whom shall be designated the Recreation Director. <br />a. Term. The Recreation Director and the members of the Board shall <br />be appointed for a term of two years by the Mayor, subject to Confirmation by <br />a vote of not less than four members of Council. The first two-year term <br />shall commence January 1, 1975 and end December 31, 1976. <br />b. Vacancy. In case the office of Recreation Director or Board Mem- <br />ber shall become vacant, the Mayor shall appoint a resident o£ the municipality <br />to fill the unexpired term, subject to the confirmation by a vote of not less <br />than four members of Council. <br />c. Removal. The Mayor may remove the Director or any Board Member for <br />gross misconduct, or malfeasance in or disqualification for office, provided, <br />however, that such removal shall not take place without the affirmative vote <br />of not less than five members of Council. The Council may remove the Director <br />or any Board Member without the recommendation or "approval" of the Mayor, pro- <br />vided, however, that such removal shall not take place without the affirmative <br />vote of six members of Council. <br />d. Compensation. The Recreation Director and the Board Members shall <br />serve without compensation. <br />Section 3. Ordinance Repeal. Ordinance No. 1054 is hereby repealed. <br />Section 4. Emergency. Council declares this to be an emergency ordinance nec- <br />essary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, such emergency <br />arising out of the necessity to comply with the Charter of Mayfield Village, Article V, <br />Section 3, requiring Council to provide for the creation of a Recreation Board; where- <br />fore, this ordinance shall take effect and b'e in force from and after its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. ? n <br />Adopted: April 21, 1975 <br />
