ORDINANCE N0. 70 - 7 <br />BY: MR. LETICH <br />AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH AND CREATE THE POSITION OF <br />VILLAGE ARCHITECT AND PROVIDE COMPENSATION THEREFOR <br />Be It Ordained by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, Cuyahoga <br />County, Ohio: <br />Section 1. The position of "Village Architect" is hereby created whose <br />duties it shall be to advise and assist the Building Inspector by reviewing and <br />making recommendations on such building permit applications that come under the <br />jurisdiction of the Ohio Building Code. <br />Section 2. The Village Architect shall be an architect registered in <br />the State of Ohio and shall be appointed by the Mayor, or until his successor shall <br />be appointed and shall qualify. The Mayor shall also appoint alternate Village <br />Architects, not to exceed three in number, each of whom shall likewise be a <br />registered architect, shall, during the term of the Village Architect, and when <br />and as requested by the Building Inspector, carry out the duties of such office <br />with respect to any matter in which the Village Architect is personally interested, <br />or whenever the Village Architect is absent or unavailable. Such appointments shall <br />be subject to confirmation by the Council within 30 days, provided, however, that if <br />the Council fails to act within such time said appointments shall thereupon become <br />effective. <br />The term Architect, as hereinafter used, shall be deemed to include the <br />Village Architect and all alternate Village Architects acting under the provisions <br />thereof. <br />Section 3. At such times as the Building Inspector shall deem it proper, <br />reviewing of plans shall be arranged at which time the Village Architect shall be <br />present. <br />Compensation shall be at the rate of $5.00 for reviewing a set of plans, <br />but not more than $600.00 shall be paid in any one year for the Architect's services, <br />except that the Building Inspector may seek and obtain advice from the Architect <br />on the other matters pertaining to building without compensation. <br />Section 4. INTEREST No person appointed to the position of Architect <br />shall participate in the review of, or give advice upon, any work of which he, his <br />partner or professional associate or associates, has any direct or indirect interest. <br />Section 5. REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS <br />1. All applications hereunder for building permits shall be submitted to the <br />Building Inspector and he shall transmit them to the Architect, who shall <br />receive, review and advise upon all dracaings, data, plans and blue prints <br />in the order filed under such published rules and regulations adopted by <br />the Building Inspector and the Architect. <br />
