ORDINANCE N0. 70 - 7 BY: MR. LETICH AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH AND CREATE THE POSITION OF VILLAGE ARCHITECT AND PROVIDE COMPENSATION THEREFOR Be It Ordained by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, Cuyahoga County, Ohio: Section 1. The position of "Village Architect" is hereby created whose duties it shall be to advise and assist the Building Inspector by reviewing and making recommendations on such building permit applications that come under the jurisdiction of the Ohio Building Code. Section 2. The Village Architect shall be an architect registered in the State of Ohio and shall be appointed by the Mayor, or until his successor shall be appointed and shall qualify. The Mayor shall also appoint alternate Village Architects, not to exceed three in number, each of whom shall likewise be a registered architect, shall, during the term of the Village Architect, and when and as requested by the Building Inspector, carry out the duties of such office with respect to any matter in which the Village Architect is personally interested, or whenever the Village Architect is absent or unavailable. Such appointments shall be subject to confirmation by the Council within 30 days, provided, however, that if the Council fails to act within such time said appointments shall thereupon become effective. The term Architect, as hereinafter used, shall be deemed to include the Village Architect and all alternate Village Architects acting under the provisions thereof. Section 3. At such times as the Building Inspector shall deem it proper, reviewing of plans shall be arranged at which time the Village Architect shall be present. Compensation shall be at the rate of $5.00 for reviewing a set of plans, but not more than $600.00 shall be paid in any one year for the Architect's services, except that the Building Inspector may seek and obtain advice from the Architect on the other matters pertaining to building without compensation. Section 4. INTEREST No person appointed to the position of Architect shall participate in the review of, or give advice upon, any work of which he, his partner or professional associate or associates, has any direct or indirect interest. Section 5. REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS 1. All applications hereunder for building permits shall be submitted to the Building Inspector and he shall transmit them to the Architect, who shall receive, review and advise upon all dracaings, data, plans and blue prints in the order filed under such published rules and regulations adopted by the Building Inspector and the Architect.
