(d) Attachment to Front Walls. <br />A11 signs shall be attached to the front walls of a building; no <br />signs shall be placed on a rear or side wall of a building, except <br />that the Architectural Board of Review may permit a small sign at <br />a side or rear entrance.to denote the name of the establishment. <br />No sign shall project at an angle from a building, but shall be <br />attached parallel to and flush against the building. No sign <br />shall project beyond the wall of a building. <br />(e) Height and Uniformity of Signs. <br />No wall sign shall be more than two feet in height. Where there <br />are two or more stores in a single building, the signs on each of <br />such stores shall be of uniform height ( but not more than two feet <br />in height each) and shall be of uniform or harmonious design, to be <br />approved by the Architectural Board, so that the combination of <br />signs will not detract from property values in the neighborhood <br />nor create slum cottditions. <br />(f ) Distance of Sign From Ground. <br />The top of any sign shall be not more than 20 feet from the grade <br />level, but this requirement may be varied by the Architectural Board <br />of Review on the basis of good architectural design and good taste. <br />(g) Illumination. <br />I,ight.sources to illuminate signs shall be reflected and shielded, <br />except Neon Tubing may be exposed and it shall not be of such <br />brightness so as to cause glare hazardous to pedestrians or auto <br />drivers or so as to cause reasonable objection from adjacent <br />residential districts. Advertising devices which attempt or appear <br />to attempt to direct the movement of traffic or which interfere with, <br />imitate, or resemble anyofficial sign, signal or device, shall be <br />prohibited. Signs which include flashing, moving, or intermittent <br />illumination shall not be permitted by right; but the Architectural <br />Board of Review may make a finding and permit such illumination if <br />it finds that no damage will be thereby caused to pedestrians, auto <br />driyyrs, or adjacent residential districts. No illuminated sign <br />sha be permi?ted behind a display window. <br />Sec. 2. Existing paragraphs Nos. 1643.25 to 1643.30, both inclusive, <br />pertaining to ground signs, Nos. 1643.31 to 1643.36, both includive, pertainittg <br />to roof signs, Nos. 1643.37 to 1643.40 pertaining to wall signs, Nos. 1643.41 <br />to 1643.44, both inclusive, pertaining to projeeting signs, Nos. 1643.45 to <br />1643.47 applying to marquee signs, Nos. 1643.48 to 1643.50, both inclusive, <br />pertaining to fixed awning signs, and all other provisions of Ordinance No. <br />726 which are inconsistent with any of the provisions of this ordinance are <br />hereby repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance. <br />
