Section 3 of Ordinance No. 476, entitled: "An Ordinance <br />Re-Codifying the Various Ordinances Establishing and Creating a Volunteer <br />Fire Department for the Village of Mayfield, Adding the Position of Assistant <br />Chief, and Repealing Ordinances Nos. 231, 292, 302, 412, 434, 462, and All <br />Ordinances Inconsistent Herewith" as amended by Ordinances Nos. 525, 604, 793, <br />and 759, is.hereby amended to read, as follows: <br />"Sec. 3. The Fire Department is authorized to act and use the <br />fire apparatus of the Village in times of emergency to saEeguard <br />liEe, limb, property, and the public safety and health. Beginning <br />as o£ March 1, 1967, the Chief of the Fire Department shall be paid <br />the swu of $100.00 per month for his services, and in addition shall <br />be paid the.same amount as hereinafter specified for services rendered <br />in the fire station. Each other officer of the Fire Department shall <br />be paid the sum of $5.00 for each fire or emergency call up to the <br />first hour thereof.. Each other volunteer fireman shall be paid the <br />stmi of $4.00 for each fire or emergency call up to the first hour <br />thereof. Each officer ( other than the Chief) and each volunteer <br />fireman shall be paid the aum of $2.00 for each additional hour or <br />major portion thereof spent in answering such fire or emergency call. <br />p fire call or emergency call shall be deemed to begin when the fire <br />equipment leaves its regular station and to end w6en it has been <br />returned thereto. The Chief of the Fire Department is authorized to <br />employ a fisema¢ whose duties shall be to,remain in'the fire station <br />and answer telephottes, work upon and maintain the fire dquipment, and <br />to perform incidental duties within the confines of the fire station. <br />Such fireman may be removed at any ti.me at the pleasure of the Mayor <br />or the Chief of the Fire Department and shall be paid the sum of <br />$2.00 for each hour worked in the fire station and shall be employed <br />£or not more than 40 hoars for such service in any one month. The <br />pssistant Chief shall act as ChieE of the Fire Department in the <br />absence of the Chief, and shall receive $10,00 for each fire or <br />emergeney call up to the first'hour thereof while acting ih the place <br />of the Chief, and $2.00 for each additional hour or ma3or portion
