ORDINANCE NO. 2008-32 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCE SECTION 1185.14(c) <br />RELATING TO POLITICAL SIGNS <br />WHEREAS, during every election season, political signs are posted within the <br />boundaries of the Village; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intention of this Ordinance to regulate the posting of such signs <br />in accordance with preventing them from becoming a nuisance or a threat to the health, <br />safety and welfare of this community and recent Ohio Supreme Court precedent. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Section 1185.14(c) of the Codified Ordinances is hereby and herein <br />amended to read as follows: <br />1185.14 SIGNS PERMITTED IN ANY DISTRICT <br />** <br />(c) Political Signs. Political signs shall be permitted only in accordance with the <br />following regulations: <br />(1) Such signs shall be located not less than twenty feet from the right-of- <br />way line. <br />(2) No sign shall. exceed nine square feet in area <br />(3) Such signs shall not be illuminated in any manner. <br />(4) Such sign shall be located as close to the center of the property as <br />possible as measured by the front footage. <br />~leEt~6-S~1FE3i3A'~ca~xvt~utcr*1„"~• •, •~"•• f@l~°"~vwxxx~ar'^^ ^"'r@l~ct~6~i~N0 <br />political sign shall be erected and posted more than sixty (60~ days before an <br />election. Each such sign shall bear the name of the campai n~irperson or <br />. treasurer, and the address of such person, who, together with the candidate(s) shall <br />J be responsible for compliance with these regulations, and for the payment of any <br />fines.
