DESCRIPTON . <br />THIS WORK SHALL CONSIST OF FURNISHING AND INSTAWNG CONDUIT WITH MULTI-CELL <br />INNERDUCT COMPLETE AND READY~FOR SERNCE,IN REASONABLY CLOSE CONFORMITY TO <br />THE LOCATIONS AND DIMENSIONS AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND DESCRIBED IN THIS <br />SPEdAL PROVISION. <br />1. DOTER CONDUIT <br />CONDUIT SHALL CONTAIN A FACTORY ASSEMBLED MULTI-CELL INNERDUCT SYSTEM FOR <br />THE COMPARTMENTALIZATION OF CABLE. THE CONDUIT SHALL PROVIDE FOR A POSITIVE <br />CONNECTION (COUPLING) OF THE CONDUIT SECTIONS AND THE MULTI-CELL INNERDUCTS. <br />THE COUPLING DEVICE SHALL ALLOW CONNECTION OF THE CONDUIT AND MULTI-CELL <br />INNERDUCT WITHOUT SPINNING OF THE CONDUIT. THE COUPLING SHALL PROVIDE AN <br />AIRTIGHT AND WATERTIGHT SEAL FOR 1HE OUTER CONDUIT AND THE MUL71-CELL <br />INNERDUCT. THE COUPLING BODY WITN ITS SEALING MEMBER(S) SHALL SEAL THE OUTER <br />WAILS OF THE MULTI-CELL INNERDUCT AND THE INNER WALL OF THE OUTER CONDUIT <br />PRONDING AN AIRTIGHT AND WATERTIGHT SEAL FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE.WTER CONDUIT <br />TO WITHSTAND A WATER PRESSURE OF TWENTY (20) P.S.I.G. OR A WATER COLUMN OF <br />TWELVE (12) FEET AND AN AIR PRESSURE OF FlFTEEN (15) P.S.I.G. FOR TWENTY-FOUR (24) <br />HOURS. <br />CONDUIT CONNECTIONS SHALL PROVIDE FOR NORMAL EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF <br />THE MULTI-CELL INNERDUCT. ~ - . <br />TERMINATION OF CONDUIT IN PULL BOXES OR .JUNCTION BOXES SHALL USE TERMINATOR <br />KITS AS SPEdFlED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND SHALL PROVIDE FOR AN AIRTIGHT ANO <br />WATERTIGHT SEAL BETWEEN THE CONDUIT, MULTI-CELL INNERDUCT AND THE WALL OF THE <br />PULL BOX OR JUNCTION BOX. ~ THE MUL71-CELL INNERDUCT SHALL BE PLUGGED AT EACH '~ <br />BOX WITH PWGS SPEGFlED BY THE MANUFACTURER. <br />THE OUTER CONDUITS SNALL'HAVE A LONGITUDINAL PRINT LINE THAT DENOTES, <br />iALL THIS SIDE UP' OR OTHER DISTINGUISHABLE MARKINGS TO ALLOW FOR THE PROPER <br />LAMENT OF THE MULTI-CELL INNERDUCT. EACH CONDUIT SECTION SHALL BE KEYED TO <br />LADE FOR PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE MOLT-CE1J. INNERDUCT. EACH END. OF THE <br />c~nDUIT SECTION SHALL HAVE A LOCATOR TO PROVIDE A REFERENCE POINT FOR PROPER <br />ALIGNMENT OF THE MULTI-d:LL INNERDUCT DURING CONNECTION. <br />A COMPLETE LINE OF Fl171NGS, ADAPTERS. AND BENDS (SWEEPS) SHALL BE PROVIDED <br />AND MANUFACTURED FROM 1HE SAME MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS AS THE <br />CONDUIT. MINIMUM SY/IEErP RADN SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON 1HE PLANS. <br />FLEXIBLE OR FlXED BENDS SHALL BE USED WHERE CHANGES IN ALIGNMENT DO NOT <br />PERMIT USE OF STRAIGHT SECTIONS. THE FLEXIBLE OR FlXED BENDS SHALL NOT BE FlELD <br />CUT. PULL BOXES AND JUNCTION BOXES LOCATIONS MAY BE ADJUSTED AS APPROVED BY <br />1HE ENGINEER..FlEU) BENDS SHALL NOT BE MADE ON 1HE MULTI-CELL INNERDUCT. <br />B. M(~TFRIAI R <br />1. OUTER CONDUITS <br />(A) PVC OUTER CONDUIT AND ASSOGATED FlTTINGS SHALL BE TYPE DB AND <br />CONFORM TO SECTION 713.07 OF THE SPEGFlCATIONS. <br />(B) FlBERGLASS REINFORCED EPOXY OUTER CONDUIT AND ASSOgATED FlTTINGS <br />SHALL MEET NEMA TC-14B AND SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM WALL THICKNESS OF 0.250 <br />INCHES. THE CONDUIT JGNTS SHALL MEET OR EXCEED THE CONDUIT TENSILE STRENGTH IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM D2-105.. MECHAMCAL NON-ADHESIVE JOINTS SHALL WITHSTAND <br />A MINIMUM PULL-OUT FORCE OF 200 POUNDS: <br />(C) GALVANIZED STEEL OUTER CONDUIT AND ASSOGATED FlTTNGS SHALL CONFORM TO <br />SECTION 713.04 OF THE SPEGFlCAT10N5. <br />2 MOLT-CELL INNERDUCT <br />MULTI-CELL INNERDUCTS SHALL BE MADE FROM PVC COMPOUND WHICH MEETS CELL <br />CLASSIFlCATION PVC 12254 A, B, OR C AS DEFINED IN ASTM D1784 AND OUTLINED IN <br />NEMA TC-8-1983. <br />C. CQNSTRUCTION METHODS <br />THE CONDUIT AND MOLT-CELL INNERDUCT. SHALL BE INSTALLED IN THE FlELD PER THE <br />MANUFACNRERS REQUIREMENTS AND SPEGFlCATIONS. JACKING OR ORIWNG SHALL BE IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 625 OF THE SPEGFlCATIONS AND THE MANUFACTURER. <br />D. METHOD OF MEASUREMENT <br />THE NUMBER OF LINEAR FEET OF CONDUIT FURNISHED AND INSTALLID WILL BE <br />MEASURED FROM CENTER TO CENTER OF PULL BOX, JUNCTION BOX, FOUNDATION, ETC. AND <br />SHALL INCLUDE ALL FlTTINGS, COUPLINGS, EXPANSION COUPLINGS, JOINTS, BENDS, <br />MUL71-CELL INNERDUCT AND OTHER INGDENTALS REQUIRED, INCLUDING CONCRETE <br />ENCASEMENT WHERE SPEGF.IED. THE UNIT PRICE BID SHALL INCLUDE ALL LABOR AND <br />MATERIALS REQUIRED TO MAKE THIS ITEM COMPLETE. <br />E.
