URS shall assist the Clieat in securing, tabulating, and evaluating construction bids, and . <br />furnish engittecring reeornmendations concerning the awarding of construction conlraets. <br />URS shall assist the Client in the preparation of correspondence and reports to the various <br />state and federal agencies that maybe involved in the Project. <br />Construction Phase - Li.dministration of the Contract for Construction: The Construction Phase <br />will commence with the award of the Contract for Construction and will terminate when the Pina] <br />Certificate of Payment is used to the Client by URS, or the date for final completion in the original <br />Construction Contract, whichever is sooner. This task includes the following: <br />The Construction Documents shall consist of the Client-Contractor Agreement, the <br />Conditions of the Contract (General, Supplementary and other~Conditions), fire Working <br />Drawings, the Speeitications, and all Addenda issued prior to and all Modifications issued <br />after execution of the Contract, Unless the context indic2tes clearly to the contrary, terms <br />employed in this Agreement shall have the same meaning as those defined in AlA ~Uocument <br />A2U 1, General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, current as of the date of this <br />Agreement. ' <br />2. URS shall be n represenGttive of the Client during fire Construction of the Project and shall <br />advise and consult with the Client. Jnstruetions to the Conttactor shall be forwarded throug}t <br />l'JRS. URS shall have authority to act on behalf of the Client only to the extent provided in <br />the Contract Docutnertts and this Agreement unless otherwise modified by written <br />instrument. <br />3. URS Project Manager shall visit the site at intervals appropriate to the stage of the <br />construction to become generally familiar with the progress and quality of the Contractor's <br />Work and to determine in general ifthe Work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract <br />Documents. On the basis of such on-site observations as engineer, URS shall keep the Clieirt <br />informed of the progress of the V~'ork, and shall endeavor to guard the Client against defects <br />and det'iciencies in the Work of the Contractor. <br />4. URS shall not be responsible for and shall not have contro[ or charge of construction means, <br />methods, techniques, sequences ar procedures, scheduling, or for safety precautions and <br />programs ]n connection with the Work. URS shall not be responsible for or have control or <br />charge over the aces or omissions of the Contractor, Subcontractors, or any of. their agents or <br />employees, or any other persons any of the Work, and shall not be responsible for the fiailure <br />of any of them to carry out the Work in accordance with the Contract Documents. <br />URS shall at aII times have easy and safe access to the Work whenever it is in preparation of <br />progress. <br />6.
