Window Tinting Leglslatlon
Dear Chief Dearden:
~~
As we discussed, I am enclosing my recommended amendment to our local
ordl~nance that addresses window tinting.
As I indicated, the state code which our local ordinance Is modeled after allows
the Director of Public Safety to adopt rules and regulations. These rules and
regu;latl©ns change ev©ry now and then, and they were mast recently amended this
past April. Since our local ordinance read exactly the same as the previous rule, we
need to amend it to conform to the new rule.
However, as I also indicated, rather than amending our ordinance each and
®vsry time the rule is changed, I am drafting the ordinance so th2t the most recent rule
is the one that will .be used for enforcement,
Obviously, I would recommend keeping a Dopy of the most r®cent rule on station
fio,r use by. all the ofFicers, and if requested, for distribution to any citizens.
