High St
Columbus, OH 43215
Dear Governor Taft,
The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village urge you to provide full funding for
rounds three and four of the Clean Ohio Fund program,
As representatives of Mayfield Village we believe full funding of the Clean Ohio
to coritinuirig an-importarit and popular source of state support for locally-
based trail development, green space acquisition, farmland preservation and brownfield
revitalization efforts. The need for continuous funding as promised by the voters in 2001
will keep projects moving forward that are already in motion and allow new projects
already in the planning phase to move ahead.
In Mayfield Village alone, two critical riparian repair and restoration projects and one
parkland acquisition in conjunction with a streambed restoration project have been
funded and together with Village and other regional agency dollars have created model
projects that foster environmental protections, environmental awareness and regional
cooperation.
Clean Ohio Fund projects have generated jobs our community and in communities
across the state creating a positive economic impact at the local level. In addition, many
new multipurpose trails and park areas have been opened that provide safe places for
Ohioans to be physically active thus improving individual health and wellness and
decreasing medical and insurance costs. The Clean Ohio Fund has had significant spin
off benefits that absolutely impact the economic vitality and personal health of many
Ohioans.
BRUCE G. RINKER
