' d <br />FROM CITY OF MAYFIELD HTS <br />- A RESOLUTION-FOR THE CREATION OF AN IMPA1tTIAL PANEL TU-REVIEW AND <br />----EVALUATE THE-ECONOMIC STATUS OF THE MAYFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT. <br />PAGE.002 <br />WNEREA5, the perception of a cormnunity and the maintenance of its property <br />vaiues is prafoundly influenced by the quality of the school system serving <br />thax Gommunity; and ,.. <br />WHEREAS, in the past the Mayfield city Schaals have pravided a pos9tlve <br />influence on the con?muniti+es it serves; and , <br />kHEREAS, two'consecutive sehool levy re4uests have been defeated by the vvters <br />of the bi$trict; and IdHEREAS, the Schaol Buard is about ta impose sigeificant redact3flns in fts <br />progriains which will lower the educatianal standards to a level approaching <br />minfmum state standards; and <br />wN€ttEAS, these reductions will adversely affect bath the students of qur <br />comunityr as rre71 as i ts property val ues; now . <br />THEitEFORE, 8E •IT RE50LVED BY THE COUNCIL, TfiAT: <br />Section I. 7he Mayfield Educatian-Business-Cartanunity Alliance create a <br />Financial Revieev Panel for the express purpose of examining the <br />financlal condition of the Mayffeld City School Djstrict. <br />Sectio". MemGership on•this panei s6tould be as follows: <br />a. "the Chairman, appointed by the A1liance, wbo has a icnowledge of <br />school firrance but is nat currently associated with the Ma,yfield <br />Schvolso <br />b. Four members, one each appointed by the four 1 ati°gest, empl oyers in <br />the District (Progressive insurance, Meridia-Hillcrest Hospftal, <br />Allen-8rad7ey and Picker X-Ray), who are financial analysis but <br />who da not 1ive in the schoo1 district. <br />c. One member appointed by the Mayfield Board of Education. <br />da Three public members, ofle appointed by the Ma,yfield parent-teacher <br />Coordinating Counci7, 1995 Citizens' Mayfield Comnittee for <br />Quality Education and one by the Citizens for Responsible School <br />5y$tetro. <br />sect?on 3. Th;s Panel will be asked to examine the finances of the Mayfield <br />Schaols to determine what additionai funds, if any wi17 be <br />required to sustain the current (pre-reduction) level of educ2ttibn <br />for a peri od of at 1 east three years _ <br />S_.e_ction_ 4, The Panels repnrt should be presented to the School board, the <br />Mayors and Caunci 1 s of each of the Muni,ci pa1 i t i es withi ri the <br />Disfirict and made availabie ta the media representatfves covering <br />the Qistrict. <br />Secti.an 5. 7his reso7utian wii1 become effettive at the earliest tim allowed <br />by law and a Copy will be sent to the Atayfieid Bmard of Edttcatian, <br />each of the munlcipalities it serves, the Mayfield Educattion- <br />Business--Community Alliance, the Mayfieid parent-teacher <br />cdordinating Councii, the 1995 Cstizens' Mapfield Comittee for <br />Quality Education and the Citizens for Respar?sibie Schoal 5ystem. <br />** TOTAL PAGE.002 **
