political support and .above all the willingness of the
Village's citizens to effectuate the Plan's goals and
objectives.
NATURE OF THE PLAN
The Comprehensive Plan is the official document which sets
forth major policies concerning desirable future development.
It articulates the location and extent of residential, business
and industrial land uses, and community and transportation
facilities. The relationships between all of these elements are
based on Mayfield Village's potentials and needs over a period
of years. The Plan also includes an assessment of present
conditions, pointing out major problems, issues and
opportunities.
To be fully effective, the Comprehensive Plan must be
sensitive to the desires of the community, and to the
requirements of a changing environment. It must represent the
thought and dedicated work of both officials and citizens.
Mayfield Village's Planning Commission and Council have at all
times solicited the assistance of individuals and organizations
with ideas of value to contribute to the development and
improvement of the Village.
Keeping the Plan up-to-date, as well as achieving its
objectives during the years ahead, provides special
opportunities for constructive cooperation by individuals and
civic groups.
The Planning Commission and Council encourage the entire
community to learn more about Mayfield Village's planning and
development process. Only through such involvement can the Plan
continue to reflect the desires and aspirations of the citizens,
and thereby operate as an effective instrument through which the
Village can become a better place to live and work.
The Comprehensive Plan presented
of departure toward the attainment
inviting community. By adhering to
the Plan is certainly attainable.
enough to be inspiring.
pTTRp(1CF
in this report is a point
of a more efficient and
sound planning principles,
Hopefully it is farsighted
The primary purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to provide
an ambitious, but realizable, statement of goals and objectives
that will enhance existing development by encouraging orderly
growth. It combines current activities and goals, the means by
which they can be achieved, and standards by which they can be
appraised. .Comprehensive in scope, the Plan relates Mayfield
Village's land use, community facility and transportation
elements to the region as a whole.
2
