i
.i ~
active public libraries in Cuyahoga County. Generally, a ratio
;,, of up to 0.5 square feet of floor area per capita is
' recommended. Thus, based on Mayfield School District's
projected 2010 population of 33,500, no major expansion of the
~ existing facility will be needed in the foreseeable future.
I
Utilities: (Add Village Engineer's water, sewer and storm
drainage narratives.)
Other Community Facilities: Chapter III allocates 1,120 acres,
or 44.4$ of the Village's total 2,520 acres, to community
facilities. Thus, after subtracting all existing facilities
(1,030 acres) and additional land for new recreation and
municipal facilities (70 acres), about 20 remaining acres can be
expected to be developed for other new or expanded facilities
such as churches, health and social centers, and utilities.
COMMUNITY FACILITY OPTIONS
Generally, Mayfield Village's allocation of land for
community facilities will adequately meet its future needs.
However, the following specific needs should be addressed.
Schools:
- Changes to Mayfield School District's Center Elementary
and Administration Building site at Wilson Mills/SOM
Center shown on the Mayfield Center Plan (Map 3) in
concert with planned municipal facilities.
- Continuing community access to Center Elementary's
playground and Mayfield High School's recreation field.
- Location of a new playground provided by the Village
behind the High School stadium near Ridgebury Boulevard.
- Provision of at least one nursery school, preferably in
Mayfield Center.
Recreation: In addition to the aforementioned school-related
facilities, the following options should be considered:
- Development of a new recreation field northwest of the
Village's playground on SOM Center Road.
- Provision of a passive park in tandem with changes to
municipal facilities shown on Map 3.
21
