L. Jury Duty Travel Conference and Other Expense <br />1. Internal Revenue Service permissible payment as determined by <br />Finance Director per mile, is hereby allowed to reimburse employees of the <br />City who are required to make trips on City business in their own <br />automobiles, other than transportation to and from work, to be paid from the <br />Treasury upon approval of the Mayor and the Director of Finance. This sum <br />shall be paid to all employees, elected or appointed, full or part-time. <br />2. Any elected or appointed Municipal officer, deputy or assistant or <br />an employee of the Municipal Corporation, may attend, at the expense of the <br />Municipal Corporation, any conference or convention relating to municipal <br />affairs if authorized by the Mayor and the Department Head, and if the fiscal <br />officer of the Municipal Corporation certifies that funds are appropriated <br />and available for such purpose. Such person shall be reimbursed for meals <br />and lodging. <br />3. Each police officer, excluding the Chief of Police, shall be <br />compensated in addition to the salary set forth in Section 1, for attendance <br />required in Court if such appearance occurs while the police officer is not <br />on duty. The police officer under these circumstances shall be paid at the <br />officer's hourly rate as set forth in Subsection (A) hereinabove and shall <br />receive a minimum of two (2) hours compensation. <br />4. In the event that a police <br />department employee is required to report <br />his regular shift then such employee shall <br />duties at his appropriate rate of pay <br />hereinabove. The employee will then reimburse the Village one hundred <br />percent of all funds received from the court for said jury duty. An employee <br />who finishes his jury duty early, during the course of his shift, should <br />report for duty for the balance of his regular shift. An employee whose <br />shift is scheduled immediately before or immediately after the jury duty will <br />be excused from said shift, with pay. <br />M. Educational Benefit <br />1. All permanent full-time employees who have earned an Associate <br />Degree relating to the field of their employment shall be entitled to <br />additional compensation equal to two percent (2%) of their base pay. All <br />full-time employees who have earned at Bachelor's Degree related to their <br />field of employment shall receive additional compensation equal to four <br />percent (4%) of their base pay. <br />2. The Village will reimburse tuition payments for any part-time <br />firefighter who receives certification of successful completion of any of the <br />following courses: 200 hour Fire fighting Certification, EMT Advanced, and/or <br />- Paramedic Certification. Prior to participating in this training, the part- <br />time firefighter would have to sign a contract with the Village to repay 100% <br />13 <br />
