131.08 ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 30B <br />131.08 COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR. <br />(a) Commencing with the effective date, of this section, there is hereby established <br />the position of Community Relations Coordinator. <br />(b) The Coordinator shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the concurrence <br />of the majority of the members elected to Council. The Coordinator shall be a <br />resident of the Municipality not holding other elected office. The Coordinator first <br />appointed under this section shall serve until December 31,. 1992, and thereafter the <br />Coordinator shall be appointed in January of each year to serve through December 31st <br />of the year of appointment. In the event the duly appointed Coordinator is unable, <br />for any reason, to complete the term of office, the Mayor shall appoint a successor in <br />the same manner required for original appointment, such successor to complete the <br />annual term with the compensation for the position to be apportioned on a prorata basis. <br />(c) The Community Relations Coordinator shall be paid a salary of two thousand <br />four hundred dollars ($2,400) per annum. The Coordinator shall be a part-time position <br />and such person shall not be eligible for employment benefits accorded to full time <br />employees of the Municipality. <br />(d) The Coordinator shall be responsible for conducting and coordinating the following <br />activities within the Municipality: <br />(1) Promote the expansion of community relation programs between all <br />departments of the Municipality and the citizenry of the Municipality, <br />so as to enhance the community's awareness of the services available, <br />and mechanisms by which improved relations between the employees of the <br />Municipality and the residents can be enhanced; <br />(2) Aid each of the service and safety departments in becoming more community <br />service oriented by working with suggestions from citizens as well as <br />employees; ' <br />(3) Provide specialized training to PJlunicipal employees in the areas of human <br />relations, community relations, officer violator contracts, intradepartmental <br />relations, supervisor/subordinate relations, etc.; <br />(4) Establish and implement safety programs for residents and. businesses <br />throughout the community; <br />(5) Establish and implement an annual Safety Services Day for elementary age <br />children and teenagers throughout the Municipality, emphasizing motor <br />vehicle safety, drug awareness, school bus activities, "home alone" <br />awareness for children, to be conducted by skilled professionals in such a <br />manner as to be interesting and attractive to children; <br />(6) Provide direct assistance to the Mayor for enhancing the awareness in <br />citizens of services available; coordinating the deliverance of services and <br />safety programs to the community, and coordinating efforts between all <br />departments of the Municipality to streamline areas of responsibility for <br />services to the community, and to provide a mechanism and to implement <br />same for community suggestions and comments relative to Municipal <br />services and programs; <br />(7) The Coordinator shall attend all monthly Council meetings and answer <br />questions of Council relative to programs and services, but shall be directly <br />responsible to the Mayor on a day to day basis. <br />In addition to the foregoing, the Coordinator shall be responsible for such other <br />duties and responsibilities as may be directed by the Mayor from time to time. <br />(Ord. 92-14.
