ORDINANCE NO. 92-14 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Pietrafese <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF COMMUNITY <br />RELATIONS COORDINATOR <br />WHEREAS, the Village provides millions of dollars worth of <br />services and programs to its residents throughout the fiscal year; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, many citizens are not aware of the programs and/or <br />services that are available to them; and <br />WHEREAS, the highest budget item on our fiscal agenda is <br />services from our safety forces, and yet, we do not provide any <br />emphasis on the fostering of positive community relations between <br />our safety forces and the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the awareness of the availability of services and <br />programs is especially important to the youth of our community, and <br />the development of special programs for purposes of drug awareness, <br />motor vehicle safety, and other such areas of concern are necessary <br />for a healthy community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That Section 131.07 of the Codified Ordinances is <br />hereby and herein created to read as follows: <br />131.07 COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR. <br />(a) Commencing with the effective date of this section, <br />there is hereby established the position of Community <br />Relations Coordinator. <br />(b) The Coordinator shall be appointed by the Mayor <br />subject to the concurrence of the majority of the members <br />elected to Council. The Coordinator shall be a resident <br />of the municipality not holding other elected office. <br />The Coordinator first appointed under this section shall <br />serve until December 31, 1992, and thereafter the <br />Coordinator shall be appointed in January of each year to <br />serve through December 31st of the year of appointment. <br />In the event the duly appointed Coordinator is unable, <br />for any reason, to complete the term of office, the Mayor <br />shall appoint a successor in the same manner required for <br />original appointment, such successor to complete the <br />annual term with the compensation for the position to be <br />apportioned on a prorata basis. <br />
