An employee traveling on Village business is delayed by business, <br />transportation or any other unforeseen problem; and <br />d. An employee is required to work overtime without advance notice and <br />calls home to advise family or to arrange alternate child transportation or <br />care arrangements. <br />Should personal calls placed on Village cell phones result in additional costs to <br />the Village -- such as roaming charges, long distance charges, directory <br />assistance, web usage and download fees that do not qualify as legitimate <br />business use -- those additional charges will be reimbursed by the employee <br />making the calls within 30 days of the billing date of the charges. Further, any <br />employee who exceeds their monthly-allotted minutes and/or package dollar <br />amount may be subject to an audit of their cell phone use for the previous 12- <br />month period. Notwithstanding, because it may be difficult to distinguish a <br />personal phone call from a business phone call, each employee will be allocated <br />$10.00 a month as representing charges for personal calls that cannot be identified <br />as calls for business use. <br />6. Any intentional, deliberate misuse of a Village cell phone may result in any or all <br />of 'che following: required maintenance of a telephone log which details all calls, <br />the blockage of all incoming calls, and the loss of cell phone use and/or employee <br />reimbursement of charges. Any personal calls made or received that result in an <br />additional charge from the service provider will be reimbursed by the employee at <br />the billed cost. The charge for out-of-network calls varies based on where you <br />call or where the call originates from. <br />D. Safetv. <br />An employee issued a Village cell phone or using their personal cell phone for <br />Village business must exercise the utmost in caution and common sense when <br />utilizing the phone while in a Village vehicle. Whenever possible, drivers must <br />use hands-free devices and pull to the side of the road in a safe manner when use <br />of the cell phone is absolutely necessary, and particularly when dialing, accepting <br />a call or checking messages. In no case should the phone be used during such <br />maneuvers as backing, merging onto an interstate, while driving in heavy traffic <br />in unfamiliar locales and the like. Necessary cell phone conversations while <br />driving should be kept to a minimum and common sense should rule every <br />instance of ceil phone use inside a moving vehicle. Caution must also be taken to <br />ensure that cell phone usage by passengers does not distract the driver. <br />-4-
