RESOLUTION NO. 2007-05 <br />PAGE TWO <br />WHEREAS, Northeast Ohioans care deeply about the needs of people of all <br />ability levels; and <br />- WHEREAS, the Cleveland area is home to the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland <br />Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers major league sports teams, as well as the minor <br />league Akron Aeros and Lake County Captains baseball teams; and <br />WHEREAS, Northeast Ohio is home to several major universities and colleges, <br />including Cuyahoga County Community, Cleveland State University, Baldwin-Wallace <br />College, Case Western Reserve University, John Carroll University, Kent State <br />University, the University of Akron, Lakeland, Lake Erie, and others; and <br />WHEREAS, Northeast Ohio is home to several premier media outlets, including <br />ABC, CBS, PBS and NBC television affiliates, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, The News- <br />Herald, Sun Newspapers and many other print media outlets, as well as numerous FM <br />and AM radio stations, among others. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COLTNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The residents of Mayfield Village deeply encourage the Site <br />Selection Committee for the 2011 Special Olympics Summer World Games to select <br />Northeast Ohio fro the events. <br />SECTION 2. This Council and Administration will cooperate to the best of our <br />abilities to accommodate the Special Olympics organization, the athletes, their coaches <br />and families, should Cleveland be selected as the site for the 2011 Summer World <br />Games; <br />SECTION 3. The Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed immediately to <br />forward two copies of this Resolution to David Gilbert at the Greater Cleveland Sports <br />Commission. <br />SECTION 4. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this <br />Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of <br />this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all <br />statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised <br />Code.
