Section 30.2. Any permanent full-time employee who, at the end of their first full calendar year of <br />service to Mayfield Village, has an accumulation of forty-five (45) days, unused sick leave and <br />who, during the same calendar year, has not used any of the sick days earned during that year shall <br />be compensated at the end of the calendar year the equivalent of forty (40) hours pay without having <br />any hours deducted from his or her accumulated but unused sick leave. Sick leave accumulation <br />lawfully transferred from prior pubic employees shall be included for purposes of this section. If an <br />employee has used less than forty (40) hours sick leave during the calendar year, he will be paid a <br />benefit equal to the difference between the hours of sick used during the year and forty (40) hours. <br />For example, an employee who has called in one (1) twelve (12) hour shift sick, he would be <br />entitled to a benefit equal to twenty-eight (28) hours. <br />Section 30.3. Upon retirement, all full-time employees shall be entitled to receive credit and <br />payment for accumulated but unused sick leave not to exceed nine hundred sixty (960) hours, <br />provided that they have been employed by the Village for ten (10) years or more. For purposes of <br />this Section, an employee shall be considered to have retired when such employee takes actions that <br />are inconsistent with any reasonable intent to continue employment with the Municipality. <br />Section 30.4. If a full-time employee is scheduled to work on a holiday enumerated in Section 26, <br />and cannot work due to illness, that day shall be considered a holiday day off and sha11 not be <br />counted or compensated as a sick day. <br />Section 30.5. "Hours of service" as used in this section, includes overtime, vacations, holidays, <br />sick leave, and all other approved and paid leaves of absence from service. "Hours of service" does <br />not include the additional compensation time allowed an employee who works a holiday or has their <br />normal day off on a holiday. <br />ARTICLE 31 <br />EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT <br />Section 31.1. All permanent full-time employees who have earned an Associate Degree relating to <br />the field of their employinent sha11 be entitled to additional compensation equal to two percent (2%) <br />of their base pay. All full-time employees who have earned a Bachelor's Degree related to their field <br />of employment shall receive additional compensation equal to four percent (4%) of their base pay. <br />Section 31.2. The compensation provided herein shall be earned on a monthly basis, with <br />payments made in January and July of every year, for the six months preceding the payment date. <br />Section 31.3. Should an employee terminate his employment with the Village, having accrued a <br />portion of said benefit but not yet having received payment, the prorated amount due the employee <br />will be paid as soon thereafter as may be practical. <br />6/1/2005 Page 27 of 36
