ORDINANCE NO. 2006-36-PAGE 15 <br />(e.) Compensation for Holiday During Vacation: If a full-time employee is on <br />vacation during one of the above-designated holidays, that day shall be considered a holiday <br />day off and shall not be counted or compensated as a vacation day. <br />(f.) All full time employees of the Police and Fire Departments who work the <br />majority of a shift on a holiday shall be compensated for the entire shift in accordance with <br />the holiday pay provisions set forth hereinabove. <br />(g.) For work performed on the holidays described above and New Year's Eve, all <br />part time firefighters will be compensated at their hourly rate times one and one half. <br />(h.) In addition to those paid holidays authorized by Ordinance, each permanent full- <br />time employee shall be entitled to forty (40) hours as paid "optional holiday" time off. <br />These optional holidays hours only accrue immediately on January 1 of each year and are <br />not subject to proration upon retirement or termination. Effective January 1, 2009, all <br />permanent full-time civilian employees will be entitled to forty-eight (48) hours "optional <br />days" as paid holidays. All full-time dispatchers' holiday hours will be increased from one <br />hundred four (104) hours to one hundred twelve (112) hours of holiday time effective <br />January 1, 2009. <br />(i.) Any new permanent full-time employee hired on or after January 1 st for the <br />purposes of computing "optional days" shall be entitled to the following optional days in <br />their first year of employment: <br />O tp ional <br />Davs <br />January 1 st through March 31st <br />April lst through June 30th <br />July lst through September 30th <br />October lst through December 31st <br />Effective January 1, 2009, this schedule will be amended as follows: <br />January 1 st through March 31st <br />April lst through June 30th <br />July lst through September 30th <br />October 1 st through December 31st <br />40 hours <br />32 hours <br />24 hours <br />16 hours <br />Optional <br />Davs <br />48 hours <br />32 hours <br />24 hours <br />16 hours <br />(j.) The scheduling of such "optional holiday hours" is subject to the approval of the <br />Employee's Department Head.
