He later left headquarters leading six roaming assessment teams into the hardest <br />hit areas of Hardin and Jasper Counties; and <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Whitehead worked 10-12 hour work days with few days off, traveling <br />250 to 300 miles a day through hazardous areas; and <br />WHEREAS, through coordinating efforts with FEMA, Mayfield Village has been able to offer <br />temporary housing to two families displaced due to the flooding of their homes, which are now in <br />need of rebuilding. Those two families arrived in the Village and were welcomed by the Service <br />Department and a number of civic organizations. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHlO, THAT: <br />Mayfield Village is proud and honored to extend its sincere appreciation and thanks to the <br />residents and business owners within the Village for their gracious response and generous <br />donations; <br />Mayfield Village is proud and honored to extend its sincere appreciation and thanks to <br />Firefighters Panzero and Carcioppollo and Sgt. Rick Whitehead for their willingness to drop <br />everything they were doing and face potential dangers as they embarked upon a mission to assist <br />those who were stranded and displaced due to the ravages of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves <br />hereby express their appreciation and thanks to the residents and businesses of Mayfield Village, <br />Ohio for their monetary donations and support. <br />Section 2. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves and <br />the residents of the Municipality hereby express their appreciation and thanks to Firefighters <br />Panzero and Carcioppollo and Sgt. Whitehead for their hard work and volunteer efforts in <br />conditions averaging 115 degrees, assisting fellow Americans to survive an enormous natural <br />catastrophe.. <br />Section 3. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves and <br />the residents of the Municipality, hereby express our sincerest sympathy to those who have lost <br />loved ones due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and offer our support to (hose survivors whose lives <br />have been Turned upside down. <br />Section 4. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare triplicate <br />original copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Firefighter Panzero; one <br />such original shall be presented to Firefighter Carcioppollo; the third original shall be presented to <br />Sgt. Whitehead; and the fourth original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village. <br />Section 5.
