ORDINANCE NO. 2005-57 <br />PAGE TWO <br />citizens, and otherwise promoting the social welfare of the <br />residents of Mayfield Village and the Hillcrest community; <br />4. help Mayfield Village, its Public Institutions and its citizens <br />bridge the "digital divide" and stay current with the level of <br />technology required for Mayfield to be a competitive and <br />attractive place to live and work, through promoting and <br />assisting with the provision of public access to free wireless <br />internet services; and <br />WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate presenration of the public peace, property, health or <br />safety in that the immediate effectiveness of this ordinance will enable <br />OneMayfield to carry out its activities as described above and thereby lessen the <br />governmental burdens of Mayfield Village; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That this Council authorizes the creation of OneMayfield <br />and the appointment of its Chief Technology Officer to serve as a Class C <br />Director on OneMayfield's Board; and declares that the carrying out of <br />OneMayfield's activities as described above will lessen the governmental burden <br />of the Mayfield Village by providing integral and essential services that the <br />Village would itself provide if it had the resources to do so. <br />SECTION 2. This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of <br />this Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open <br />meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its <br />committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the <br />public, in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of <br />Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents <br />of Mayfield Village, Ohio.
