131.05 ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 30 <br />131.05 HUMAN SERVICES DIRECTOR. <br />(a) Commencing with the effective date of this section, there is hereby established <br />the position of Human Services Director. <br />(b) The Director shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the concurrence of a <br />majority of the members elected to Council. The Director shall be a resident of the <br />Municipality not holding other elected office. The Director first appointed under this <br />section shall serve until December 31, 1986 and thereafter a Director shall be appointed <br />in January of each year to serve through December 31 of the year of appointment. In the <br />event the duly appointed Director is unable, for any reason, to complete the term of <br />office, the Mayor shall appoint a successor in the same manner required for original <br />appointment; such successor to complete the annual term with the compensation for the <br />position to be apportioned on a pro rata basis. Passed 1-20-86.) <br />(c) The Human Services Director shall be compensated at the rate of six dollars <br />and fifty cents ($6.50) per hour provided, however, that the compensation shall not <br />exceed fifteen hours per week. (Ord. 89-9. Passed 2-27-89.) <br />(d) The Director shall be responsible for conducting and coordinating the following <br />activities within the Municipality: <br />(1) Distribution of surplus government foods; <br />(2) Activities of the Commission on Aging; <br />(3) Flu shot program; <br />(4) Acquisition of State and federal funds; <br />(5) Assist senior citizens .in the preparation grid filing of income tax returns; <br />(6) Bi-monthly card group; <br />(7) Bi-monthly craft group; <br />(8) Early Spring/late Fall boccie; <br />(9) Blood pressure checks, once per month; <br />(10) Christmas party; <br />(11) Anniversary party; <br />(12) Picnics in the park; <br />(13) Bus trips (four to five annually); <br />(14) Field trips; <br />(15) Daytime programs throughout the year including travelogue, garden group <br />and police and fire safety; <br />(16) Newsletter; <br />(17) Articles for Voice of the Village; <br />(18) Individual services for seniors; <br />(19) Thrift shopping for goods and supplies for senior citizens; <br />(20) Craft boutique (one annually); <br />(21) Real estate tax fiche machines at flu shot program; <br />(22) Monthly luncheon trips; and <br />(23) Arrange cooperative activities with other communities. <br />In addition to the foregoing the Director shall be responsible for such other duties as <br />may be directed by the Mayor from time-to-time. <br />(Ord. 85-25.
