97 <br />CHAPTER 373 <br />Bicycles <br />373.01 Applicability of provisions. 373.06 Safety equipment. <br />373.02 Definitions. 373.07 Safe riding regulations. <br />373.03 Parent's responsibility. 373.08 Locks. <br />373.04 License required; registration. 373.09 Impounding. <br />373.05 Regulations for young riders. 373.99 Penalty. <br /> CROSS REFERENCES <br /> Bicycle prohibited on freeway -see TRAF. 303.06 <br />373.01 APPLICABILITY OF PROVISIONS. <br />The regulations applicable to bicycles set forth in this chapter shall apply whenever <br />a bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle is operated upon a sidewalk, street, highway, <br />boulevard, public place or upon a bicycle trail set aside for the use of bicycles, <br />tricycles or unicycles. (Ord. 89-41. Passed 12-18-89.) <br />373.02 DEFINITIONS. <br />As used in this chapter: "Bicycle" means atwo-wheeled vehicle having a rear <br />drive wheel which is solely 'human powered. "Tricycle" means athree-wheeled adult <br />vehicle propelled by human power having a single front wheel and two parallel rear <br />wheels. "Unicycle" means aone-wheeled vehicle which is solely human powered. <br />As used in this chapter: "Bicycle trail" means a separate trail from which <br />motor vehicles are prohibited and which is used for the shared use of bicycles and <br />pedestrians. Such trails shall be designated and regulated by the Police Department <br />in compliance with the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. <br />(Ord. 89-41. Passed 12-18-89.) <br />373.03 PARENT'S RESPONSIBILITY. <br />The parent(s) of any child. and the guardian .of any ward shall not authorize or <br />knowingly permit any such child or ward to violate any of the provisions of this chapter. <br />(Ord. 74-31. Passed 7-15-74.) <br />373.04 LICENSE REQUIRED; REGISTRATION. <br />(a) No person who resides within the Municipality shall ride or propel a bicycle, <br />adult tricycle or unicycle upon any sidewalk, street, highway, boulevard, public place <br />or bicycle trail set aside for the use of bicycles, adult tricycles or unicycles unless <br />such bicycle, tricycle or unicycle has been licensed by the Police Department or <br />other designated official for such purpose, and the license is attached thereto on the <br />frame of the bicycle, adult tricycle. or unicycle for which it was issued. <br />(Ord. 89-41. Passed 12-18-89.) <br />(b) This provision shall not apply to any bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle in transit <br />within the corporate limits of the Municipality, providing that the owner is a resident <br />of another community. <br />1990 Replacement <br />
