G. To maE:e all ofificers aware of their legal <br />responsibility and duty to report all cases of <br />suspected child abuse and/or neglect to the <br />Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services. <br />4. Specific responsibilities of the County Prosecutor area <br />A. To monitor investigations undertaF:en by the Sheriff's <br />Department. _ <br />D. To consult with the Human Services Department regarding <br />the initiation of criminal prosecution as applicable. <br />C. To consult with the authorities of the various <br />localities concerning the initiation of criminal <br />prosecution. <br />D. To advise the Department of Human Services concerning <br />the initiation and progress of criminal prosecution. <br />E. To provide legal direction and interpretation of issues <br />regarding child abuse and neglect and prescribed <br />°referral procedures to respective law enforcement <br />agencies. <br />b. Specific responsibilities of the Sheriff's Department area <br />A. The Sheriff's Department is responsible for criminal <br />investigations of cases of Child Abuse and/or neglect <br />which occur in unincorporated areas of Cuyahoga County. <br />D. The Sheriff's Department will assist any Iaw <br />enforcement agency in C~ryahoga County, upon their <br />request with that agency's investigation ..of these <br />cases. <br />V. Issues of Confidentiality <br />1. Section ^151.41 of the Ghio Revised Code provides that <br />"Any report made under this section is confidential, and any <br />person who permits or encourages the unauthorised <br />dissemination of its contents is 'guilty of a misdemeanor of <br />the fiourth degree." All of the subscribers to this Flan <br />agree that adherence to this statute is to be unconditional. <br />?. The Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services, Social <br />Services shall report the results of its investigation in <br />these matters. to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. <br />Hoaiever, in accordance aiith the declaration of the law that <br />confidentiality be respected,. it is agreed by the parties <br />that such reports shall be limited to the action taF:en or <br />intended to be taEien by the C~ryahoga County Department of <br />Human Services, Social Services and whether or not further <br />law enforcement action is required.
