To receive and respond to reports or cases involving <br />individuals who aid, abet, indt_~ce, cat_ise, encourage <br />or contribute to a .child or a ward of the Juvenile <br />Court: <br />* becoming a dependent, neglected or abused child, <br />or <br />* becoming an unruly or delinquent child, or <br />~ leaving the ct_tstody of any person, department, or <br />institt_ttion . <br />E. To maE:e Fnown to parents who fear that they may ht_trt <br />or who have already hurt their children that they can <br />voluntarily call the Ct_tyahoga Cot_tnty Department of <br />Human Services, Social Services. The Department will <br />in such cases initiate social worEc counselling with <br />the parents and will assist them in obtaining other <br />needed services. <br />~. Specific responsibilities of the Officers of. Fence within <br />the Cot_tnty are: <br />Ao To receive and investigate reports of child abuse <br />-received from any source twenty-fot_tr hot_trs per day, <br />seven days per weeEc .. <br />R. To notify the CCDHS of any st_tch reports. Situations <br />which in the judgement of the peace officer~~require <br />immediate protective action shot_tld be reported by <br />telephone to 696-k::IDS or in person at ~~955 Et.tclid <br />Avent_te. If removal of the child(ren) from home is <br />warranted, peace officers may bring the child(ren) to <br />~.9~5 Euclid Avenue. Cleveland. <br />C. When necessary, to meet the CCDHS social worker at the <br />child(ren)'s residence to effiect removal of the child <br />when a parent (or other custodian) refuses to <br />relinquish an endangered child of whom the agency holds <br />emergency custody. <br />D. To taE;e children who appear to have been abused or <br />otherwise need immediate medical attention directly to <br />the nearest hospital. The same reporting procedure as <br />in paragraph C is to be follotted. <br />E. Where necessary,, to cause the immediate removal of a <br />child under the authority granted. by the Ohio <br />Revised Code ~1b1.4~i:~ <br />F. To arrange fior the Department ofi Ht_tman Services to meet <br />with peace officers to provide them with information <br />regarding functions and services of the Department and <br />how the officers can obtain help for families and <br />children. <br />4 <br />t <br />
