Agreement between Mayfield Village and F O.P. Lodge 57 <br />ARTICLE l9 <br />GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE <br />Section 19.1. It is mutually understood that the prompt presentation, adjustment, and/or <br />answering of grievances is desirable in the interest of sound relations between the Employer and <br />the F.O.P. The procedures specified in this Article are intended. to provide a system for a fair, <br />expeditious, and orderly adjustment of grievances of employees of the Police Department. <br />Section 19.2. The term "grievance" shall mean an allegation by the bargaining unit employee <br />that there has been a breach, misinterpretation, or improper application of this Agreement, <br />including all disciplinary actions. It is not intended that the grievance procedure be used to effect <br />changes in the Articles of this Agreement or those matters not covered by this Agreement. <br />Section 19.3. <br />A. All grievances must be processed at the proper step in order to be considered at <br />the subsequent steps. <br />B. Any employee may withdraw a grievance at any point by submitting, in writing, a <br />statement to that effect or by permitting the time requirements at each step to <br />lapse without further appeal. Any grievance which is not processed by the <br />employee within the time limits provided shall be considered resolved based upon <br />management's last answer. <br />C. Any grievance not answered by management within the stipulated time limits <br />maybe advanced by the employee to the next step in the grievance procedure. All <br />time limits on grievances maybe extended by mutual consent of the parties. <br />Section 19.4. All grievances must contain the following information to be considered and must <br />be filed using the grievance form as presented in Appendix B: <br />1. grieved employee's name and signature, <br />2. grieved employee's classification, <br />3 date grievance was first discussed and the name of the supervisor with whom the <br />grievance was discussed, <br />4. date grievance was filed in writing, <br />5. date and time grievance occurrence, <br />14 <br />
