Agreement be[ween Mayfield V'?llage and F.O.P. Lodge 57 <br />ARTICLE 19 <br />GRIEYANCE PROCEDURE <br />Section 19.1. It is mutually understood that the prompt presentation, adjustment, and/or answering <br />of grievances is desirable in the interest of sound relations between the Employer and the F.O.P. The <br />procedures specified in this Article are urtended to provide a system for a fair, expeditious, and orderly <br />adjustment of grievances of employees of the Police Department. <br />Section 19.2. The term "grievance" shall mean an allegation bq the bargaining unit employee that <br />there has been a breach, misurterpretation, or improper application of this Agreement, in.cluding all <br />disciplinary actions. It is not intended that the grievance proceiure be used to effect changes in the <br />Articles oFthis Agreement or those matters not covered by tlus Agreement. <br />Section 19.3. <br />A All grievances must be processed at the proper step in order to be considered at the <br />subsequent steps. <br />B. Any employee may withdraw a grievance at any point by submitting, in writing, a <br />statement to that effect or by permitting the time requirements at each step to lapse <br />without further appeal. Any grievance which is not processed by the employee within <br />the time limits provided shall be considered resolved based upon management's last <br />answer. <br />C. Any grievance not answered by management within the stipulated time limits may be <br />advanced by the employee to the next step in the grievance procedure. All time limits <br />on grievances may be extended by mutual consent of the parties. <br />Section 19.4. All grievances must contain the following information to be considered and must be filed <br />using the grievance form as presented in Appendux B: <br />1. grieved employee's name and signature <br />2. grieved employee's classification <br />date grievance was first discussed and the name of the supervisor with whom the <br />grievance was discussed <br />4. date grievance was filed in writing <br />5. date and time grievance occuirence <br />6. loca.tion where grievance occurred <br />Page 13 of 35
