ORDINANCE NO. 2003-35-PAGE 16 <br />153.16 LONGEVITY <br />(a.) Years of service" shall be defined as the total number of twelve (12) month periods of <br />service completed on or before December 31st of each year. Each twelve (12) month period used to <br />compute years of service commences on the anniversary date of the employee's first date of <br />employment and ends on the last day prior to the employee's next consecutive anniversary date. <br />(b.) The only service that shall be used to compute longevity pay shall be years of service as a <br />full-time employee of Mayfield Village. <br />(c.) Each full-time employee of the Municipality shall be entitled to longevity pay increases in <br />accordance with the following schedule: <br />Erc•orI NO1L it viiIiCi Iiill{. <br />(d.) All full-time employees of the Municipality as of the date of passage hereof shall <br />retain, for the purpose of computing their longevity pay, the years of service credited to their <br />employment with the Municipality, as it currently appears on the personnel and payroll records <br />of the Village. <br />(e.) Longevity payments will be issued once a year. Payments will be made after <br />December 1 " of each year but no later than the first paycheck in December. <br />( fl If an employee terminates before December, his or her longevity payment will be <br />prorated and paid with his or her final payinent. <br />153.17 EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT. <br />(a.) All permanent full-time employees who have earned an Associate Degree relating to <br />the field of their employment shall be entitled to additional compensation equal to two percent <br />(2%) of their base pay. All full-time employees who have earned at Bachelor's Degree related to <br />their field of employment shall receive additional compensation equal to four percent (4%) of <br />their base pay. All full-time employees who have earned a Master's degree relating to the field <br />of their employment shall be entitled to additional compensation equal to six percent (6%) of <br />their base pay. Upon termination, an employee would receive a prorated portion of his or her <br />educational benefit. <br />(b.) The Village will reimburse tuition payments for any part-time firefighter who receives <br />certification of successful completion of any of the following courses: 200 hour Fire fighting <br />Certification, EMT Advanced, arid/or Paramedic Certification. Prior to participating in this <br />training, the part-time firefighter would have to sign a contract with the Village to repay 100% <br />of the cost of this training should the part-time firefighter leave employment with the Village <br />within three (3) years of receiving said certificate. Two-thirds (2/3) of the tuition cost must be <br />reimbursed if the employee leaves the Village's employment during the 37th through 48th <br />months; and, if the employee leaves the Village's employment during the 49th through 60th <br />months, one third (1/3) of the tuition cost must be reimbursed to the Village.
