Ordinance 2000-14 <br />6. Whenever a uniform item is damaged or destroyed in the line of duty then that item shall be <br />replaced out of the uniform allowance. However, should any employee's maintenance and <br />replacement costs in any year exceed the uniform allowance for that year, upon presentation of <br />receipts. evidencing such excess costs, and subject to the recommendation of the appropriate <br />Chief or department head, the employee may be reimbursed for such excess costs. Whenever a <br />uniform item is lost or destroyed by an employee in a manner not related to the performance of <br />his duty then that item shall be replaced at the cost of the employee subject to the <br />recommendation of the appropriate Chief or department head. <br />7. Whenever different or additional uniform items are required due to the promotion of a full-time <br />member of the Police or Fire Department, the Municipality shall purchase those items for which <br />receipted bills are presented together with an approval for payment from the Chief of the <br />Department. <br />8. There shall be no uniform allowance or maintenance for part-time police dispatchers, police or <br />fire secretaries or clerks, or Building and Service secretaries and clerk receptionist. <br />D. Longevity Schedule <br />1. "Years of service" shall be defined as the total number of twelve (12) month periods of <br />service completed on or before December 31st of each year. Each twelve (12) month period <br />used to compute years of service commences on the anniversary date of the employee's first <br />date of employment and ends on the last day prior to the employee's next consecutive <br />anniversary date. <br />2.
