Ordinance 2000-14 <br />F. Optional Holiday <br />Efi'ective January 1, 2000 for the purposes of this section in computing optional days for the <br />employees of the Fire Department hired after January 1, 2000, one (1) day shall be equivalent to <br />(eight) 8 hours. For the purpose of providing an example only, a member of the Fire <br />Department hired after January 1, 2000 would be entitled to twenty-four (24) hours or one tour <br />of duty for his/her optional holiday. <br />In addition to those paid holidays authorized by Ordinance, each permanent full-time <br />employee other than full-time firefighters hired after January 1, 2000 shall be entitled to <br />three (3) "optional days" as paid holidays. A fourth paid holiday will be granted to non- <br />firefighter, non-union employees efi'ective January 1, 2000. Firefighters will have twelve <br />(12) hours added to each level of their vacation schedule. <br />2. Any new permanent full-time employee outside of the Fire Department hired on or after <br />January 1st for the purposes of computing "optional days" shall be emitled to the following <br />optional days in their first year of employment: <br /> Optional Days <br /> for Firefighter <br /> Optional Days Hired after 1/1/2000 <br />January 1st through March 31st 4 days 24 hours <br />April 1st through June 30th 3 days 18 hours <br />July 1st through September 30th 2 days 12 hours <br />October 1st through December 31st 1 day 6 hours <br />3. The scheduling of such "optional days" is subject to the approval of the Employees' <br />Department Head. <br />G. Holidavs <br />The following seven (7) days shall be deemed to be holidays on the dates on which they are <br />observed under the laws of the State of Ohio, unless otherwise designated by the Mayor: <br />New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the <br />day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. In addition, the afternoons of Christmas Eve <br />Day and New Year's Eve Day shall also be deemed to be holidays. A permanent full-time <br />employee shall not be required to work on any of said holidays unless in the opinion of his <br />responsible administrative superior his failure to work would impair the public service. <br />2000-2002 Wage Ordinance: 2000-14 <br />Page 17 of 25 <br />
