Mayor Hodgson asked how many buses would be stored and maintained
in the terminal. Mr. Feldner stated that twenty-two, to twenty-four
buses would be stored in this building in the immediate future and that
the size of the building was such that there could be forty buses stored
and that all buses would be lcept under cover.
Mr. Ehdress suggested that all parking areas be set back from
S.O.M. Road. - °
Mr. Swanson asked if homes could be built on the portion of the
tract between the structure and S.O.M. Center Road,
Mr. Feldner stated that it would be ideal if they could so
utilize the property and also stated that the rear land could possibly
be used for a daisy, since he had been approached concerning such use.
~.° Taylor suggested that care be taken so that the area could
not be turned into a used car lot in the future.
A member of the audience stated that the terminal would be only
six hundred to eight hundred feet from the, northerly boundaries of lots
located on the north side of Highland Road. It was also shovTn that the
present roadway leading to the structure located on the southerly
boundary of this tract was only twenty=three feet from a home constructed
on the West side of S.O.M. Center Road.
Mr. Taylor asked of the noise vrhich would result from the
repair work in that riveting would be necessary in the rebuilding of
wrecked buses®
Mr. Feldner stated that it had been their past experience that
there was no excessive noise,, in that it was only alumz.num rivets which
were used and. low pressure rivet guns. did the work.
Mr. Oatess expressed surprise at the repair of buses being
carried on as a business in the proposed terminal.
Mr. Feldner stated that in all probability only one such bus
would be repaired at a time, and this was a business not now conducted
by the Redife~ Bus Company and was to be used to supplement the income
of the company.
Mr. Edelman asked of the type of rebuilding to be done.
Mr. Feldner stated that there are very fear persons engaged in the
business of repairing coach type buses and .since they had the teehni.cal
skill and equipment so as to enable them to carry on such a business,
it was thought advisable to enter into the field. He also stated that
they would on occasion buy as a dealer in used buses, and that there
would be no difficulty so far as the Public Utilities Commission was
concerneds
20
