The approximate costs of such
improvements were stated to be: ~?~800 for the initial surface for Bonnieview
and Glenview; y~6600 for the initial surfa.ee for Seneca; ~,~3600 for the initial
surface for Worton Park. This would all be part of a road program which
would involve considerably decreased costs in subsequent years.
Mayor Hodgson suggested turning ,the matter over to the Finance Committee
with the suggestion that one of the roads be done to test the program. The
property owners would bear the bulk of the cost. Mayor Hodgson suggested that
Glenview would probably be the best road tivith which to start the program.
Mr. Swanson asked of the type of surface which would result from such a
program.
Mayor Hoclgson stated that it would be a permanent hard surface.
Mr. Demore stated that the program called for tar bound macadam
surfaces, which is a,n impervious surface made by adding tar and then slag.
~2r. Demore stated that such a program has been used in Pepper Pike and Hudson
with success.
Mr. y~dhiting asked if it might not be more effective to use a surface
such as concrete or whether this surface would serve as wells
AIr. Demore stated that it seems this would be the best for the Village
of Mayfield, and that those prices shotivn a.re contractor's prices. It was
also noted that some of the costs could be reduced, for some of the work
could be done by the Village of Mayfield and some of the materials could be
obtained at lower rates than those included in the estimates.
I~,Iayor Hodgson stated that the Little League Baseball Teams formed for
boys in the Mayfield School District would play their first game on Sunday,
June 139 1954 at 1x30 P.N1® The Council is invited to take part in the
pre-game program.
TBayor Hodgson asked if there were any further business. ,
It4ayor Hodgson stated that it was necessary to take scene definite action
on the plat of the, Associated Land and Investment Corporation's Ridgebury
Boulevard Development.
Mr. H® G. Miller of the Associated Lancl and Investment Corporat-ion was
present. .
Mr. Beard asked whether Mr. I+.~iller was ready to give a bond for the
faithful completion of all improvements in the said subdivision and vrhether
the sewage and other sanitary factors available or to be made available
within the development had the approval of the Cuyahoga Couni-,y Board of Health.
Mr. I~4iller stated that he had the approval of the Cuyahoga. County Board
of Health and that he would furnish such a bond as soon as the plans for the
development warranted the procurement of such a bond.
