Mr. Endress introduced Resolution No. 254 entitled: ~tA Resolution
Authorizing a 3.25 mill levy for two years for payment of current expenses
for the tax duplicate years 1954 and 1955", which resolution was read to
Council.
Mr. ~Idh~.ting suggested that the Village of Dayfield did not need
the money which would be raised by a 3.25 mill. levy, and that the increased
burden of taxation arising from the special assessments from water main
improvements should be alleviated as much as possible'by reducing the levy
.of the Village of Mayfield. Therefore Mr. Whiting suggested reducing the
levy to no more than 3 ?Hills for the ensuing two year period. He also stated
that general fund money should not be spent to improve dedicated public
highways within the Village of Mayfield, for this money is derived from
taxes levied on all the people tivithin the Village of D~ayfield.
Tt was moved by Mr. Endress and seconded by Mr. Taylor that the
rules of lair requiring a Resolution to be read on three separate occasions
be suspended,
Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Swanson,Endress,Taylor,VJhiting,Beard & Oatess.
Nays - None.
Motion Carried
" Rules Suspended
It was moved by Mr. Endres and seconded by Mr. Beard that Resolution
No. 254 be .passed as read.
Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Endress'Taylor & Beard.
Nays -'Messrs Swanson, iNhiting-& Oatess•
Motion not Carried
Resolution not Passed
Mr. Swanson introduced Resolution No. 255 entitled: «A Resolution
Authorizing three ( 3) mi.11 levy for two years for payment of current
expenses for the •tax duplicate years 1954 and 1955n, v~tu.ch Resolution urge
read to Council.
Mayor Hodgson suggested that merely continuing the temporary repairs
of the dedicated public highways within the Village of Mayfield would result
in no permanent solution to the road problem. He also stated that since the
road funds were definitely insufficient to effectuate any sort of permanent
road program, and since any money .used to. effectuate temporary repairs was
at most only a holding action, the Village of Mayfield would benefit. by
permanently improving the dedicated public highways within the Village of
Mayfieldo
Mr. Endres Mated that the budget was very closely drawn. He
stated that the estimates for the permanent improvement of the dedicated public
highways within the Village of ll~yfield which had been prepared by the Village
En„~3.neer totaled X23,245.00 over a. two year period, and that it was proposed
in the proposed budget for 1955 which had been .presented that the Village of
Mayfield assume 25~ of the costs of such improvements. Mr. Endres also
staged that the estimates of the Village ~hgineer were admittedly high
estimates and in all probability could be substantially reduced.
2•
