Only one bid was received on the purchase of a new p:o]oi.ce car and <br />this was opened at this time. The bid from the'Mayiield Sales and Service <br />offered a four door station wagon for X2,265.00. Mayor .Hodgson suggested <br />that time f®r bids be extended, but was told by ~1r. Edelman that this could not <br />be done. <br />It ~ra.s moved by Mr. Swanson, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that all. bids <br />be rejected and the clerk be authorized to remadvertise for bids. <br />Roll Calls Byes ®Messrs Swanson, Taylor, Whiting, Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays -None. • <br />Motion Carried <br />The Clerk then advised Council that bills for repairs on the police <br />car were running rather high. <br />Mayor 13odgson then brought up the matter of vacating I~laple Grove <br />and Mr. Edelman read Ordinance No. 177 to Council. <br />Mra Jacques, who bras present, was asked if he had been able to come <br />to~ar~y agreement for easements with the abutting property owners on Maple <br />Grove and answered 9n the negative. After further conversation, Mr. Beard <br />introduced Ordinance No. 48l~ entitleds "An Ordinance to Vacate Maple Grove <br />Road from the Northerly Line of Seneca Road in a Southerly Direction to the <br />South Corporation Line of the Village of Mayfield", which Ordinance was <br />read to Council. <br />Mayor Hodgson then-said that he thought it advisable to hold off <br />on any consideration of the sewage question until a full council was present. <br />Mr. Edelman reported that he had attended a Solicitor's meeting in <br />Mr. La,nsdaley s office for the purpose of determining a method of petitioning <br />Common Pleas-Court for a Sewer and dater Da.stricta A Resolution was drawn, <br />petitioning the establishment of a Sewer and-Water Commission to be joined <br />by all the Municipalities, and participation could be had for the payment of <br />l0 cents a head by each municipality. He stated that he could go further <br />into these plans, but thought it might go to a comm~.ttee to be considered. <br />The matter was tabled until some future time. <br />Mayor Hodgson reported that he had numerous appeals from various <br />areas for water.. He-spoke of Highland and Lander Roads in particular and <br />said Highland Heights Village was going to bring water down Highland Road <br />to our Village. Line, He stated further that we Ind been asked to share on a <br />50~ 50 basis on-a Lander~Road main. He therefore, had asked our engineer <br />for figures on these two projects. <br />Our ~"~ngineer reported that from Highland Village to S.O.M. Road, <br />2100 feet were involved and that the crater.department insisted on a 16 inch <br />. main on this road. This would cost approximately X16.10 per Lineal foot <br />and total around ~38,6l~8.00. Highland Heights had-broken it down to ~.0~ <br />village share and•60~ abutting_property.owners share. On this basis, our <br />village share Vroul.d amount to X15,500.00 and property owners would pay <br />a,~23,200 as their share. On Lander, 2700 feet were involved at a cost of <br />~10.3~. per lineal foot for a., l2 inch main. Total cost of x$28,000.00 would <br />be shared by both villages, with a village portion of x$1877.00 and property <br />owners share of X13,905.00. These mains were to be ].aid on the horth side of <br />3. <br />
