truck used so infrequently, it might have to be replaced at any tine and <br />this could be done at a cost somewhere in the neighborhood of sixty or <br />seventy dollars. <br />tIr, ^laylor spoke of the many reports in local and out-of-town news- <br />papers of children being asphyxiated sn abandoned ice boxes and felt that we <br />should have some sort of ordinance making it a misdemeanor to leave such <br />boxes about or any other enclosed mechanism that might be a trap for unwary <br />children. Mr. Taylor went on to say that such an ordinance would have a <br />deterring influence and might save a life in the fut~tt^e. <br />Mr. Ede7anan said that he was attending a solicitors meeting and <br />would check on the various ordinances of this type in force in other <br />c ommun3.ties . <br />It was reported that our Service Director was having difficulty <br />bedause of the misuse of fire hydrants -to the extent that the seats on some <br />of the hydrants were jimmied and unusable. Mr. Oatess then introduced <br />Ordinance No. 506 entitled, "An Ordinance Prohibiting the Private Use of <br />Fire Hydrants for purposes other than Extinguishing of Fires", which <br />ordinance was read to Council. - <br />It was moved by Mr. Strater, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that the rules <br />of law requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be <br />suspended.- <br />Ro71 Call: Ayes -Messrs Barons on, Strater, Taylor, l+illiiting, Beard ~ Oate ss . <br />. ~ Nays -None. Strater than asked what was being done about laying file and <br />covering the drainage Glitch along the ToYrm Hall property. Mayor Endress <br />reported that Mr. Wieland was going to. take. care of it. <br />1'~r. }Swanson reported that he had talked with-the Building Inspector <br />and understood that Mr. Bordonaro had asked for permission: to move his <br />store to the back of the. property and install a gas station. It was r'Ir. <br />Swanson's understanding that the Building Inspector had refused to give <br />his permission. ~Zr. Swanson stated further that some of the adjoining <br />property owners tiaere disturrbed and mentioned specifically the property <br />adjoins v the store which was in the process of being sold. No one wished <br />to consider this property until our stand on the matter was clarified and <br />Mr. Swanson wondered if they had any legal claim and wondered also if the <br />store was in a safe condition to be moved. Mr. Edelman said that this was <br />a matter for the Building Inspector to decide and if a permit was denied <br />jlr. Bordonaro, he could appeal to the Zoning Board• <br />5. <br />
