It was moved by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr. Strater, that Resolution <br />No. 296 be approved and passed as read. <br />Roll Cal].: Ayes - -Messrs Taylor,Strater,Swanson,Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion carried <br />Resolution passed <br />The Clerk then reported that S.O.M. Noo !~ had been served and <br />could be advertised for bids by September. 1, 1955. It was moved by Mr. <br />Strater, seconded by Mrs Taylor, that a specifi.l council meeting be called for <br />8:00 P. Mo at the Tom Hall on September 1, 1955. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Taylor,Strater;Swanson,Beard & Oa.tess. <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion carried <br />Mr. George Kingsbury and Mr® Stanley Haughn then presented to our <br />Mayor a check for ~19t~.60 to be used in defraying expenses of renovating the <br />basement of the Town Hallo Mr. Kingsbury explained that this was the proceeds <br />of the 1951 Home. Day.. Mayor Endress thanked these gentlemen on behaL of <br />Council and the Village and turned the money over to the Clerk. <br />Mayor Endress stated that'he had had numerous calls requesting a day <br />for 2~gistration in our village prior to election and asked that the clerk <br />get out a letter if and when the election board notified us of a date. <br />Mr• Edelman was then asked if. he had anything to say about his <br />numerous meetings with regard to a garbage and rubbish route through Gates Mills. <br />Mr. Edelman said that it was a long story and hard to discuss isz public because <br />of so much strategy and. that sort of thing. He reported that at present they <br />were using both sides of County Line Road with the permission of Solicitor <br />Dorn• This was for the duration-of the negotiation but it was thought that <br />this would be the final route chosen, <br />It was then moved by Mra Strater, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that our <br />Solicitor be given authority-to file suit, if he deems it necessary, to preserve <br />a route for garbage and rubbish trucks through Gates Mi11s. <br />Roll Ca11: Ayes - Messrs. Taylor, Strater, Swanson,Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays - Noneo <br />Motion carried <br />The case of the little boy lost in Metropolitan Park came up with <br />the clerk reporting bills totaling X192.00 which°he had asked the Park to <br />assume. The Park Board, however, rep®rted that they had no legal way to <br />assume these bills® Of this amount, ti~126.00 was for the aid given by our <br />Fire. Department and llr. Porter was asked by Mr. Strater to withdratir this <br />bill.. Mr® Strater stated that so many other organizations had donated their <br />time that it would be better for everyone to forget any bills, from our <br />vil7a.ge® Mr. Porter was glad to do this and it was moved by Mr. Oatess, <br />seconded by Mr. Strater,'that the clerk be authorized to pay all bills <br />incurred by the village with the exception of the Fire Department biLt. <br />2. <br />
