Mayor Endress read a letter from Chief-Dixon, stating that there <br />were 17 cases pending before the court from June and July® Mr. Dixon <br />stated that, considering the violation in each case, the village would <br />lose ~.55.oo.if these cases were not brought in and also establish a <br />precedent whereby others might refrain from coming to court. He went on to <br />state the difficulty of finding man-hours under ovr present 32. hour a <br />week limit to go after these violators, -and suggested some arx•angement , <br />whereby our police could use their oVm cars and be remunerated for the <br />time involved. Mr. Duon.arose. and said that in-a test case they had <br />brought i.n three violators on one night for a total of X98.60 in fines and <br />on one other night found one case had changed his name and another had <br />taken off. I''k~yor Endress said that we should eithar_:•go after all these <br />violators or none. A great deal of discussion was had by Councils Mr. <br />.Strater stating that we could not afford to let them go because of the loss <br />of prestige by the ~i1la,ge. ...... <br />Mr. Oatess, seconded by Mr. ?heard, then introduced Ordinance No. <br />518, entitled: "An Ordinance to Amend Section 3 of Ordinancer~~79, as <br />Amended by Section 2 of Ordinance No. 508' by 2ncreasing the Niaxi.mum Hours <br />of Special Policemen for Certain Purposes at the Discretion of the Mayor",. <br />which ordinance was read to Council. <br />6. <br />
