Mr. Strater reported that Mrv Porteres request for pay increases for <br />himself and Lieutenants was given careful. study. The' Safety Committee had <br />approved in principle the pay increase and turned the matter over to the <br />Finance Committee. The Finance Committee, deciding that it would ~ unfair <br />to raise the salary of the officers ~ritliout increasing the salary of the <br />men, and 1ack~ng information needed to form an opinion on the financial <br />liability that the raise would entail, had decided to ask Mr. Porter for <br />more information before making any recommendation to Council. <br />° Mr. Strater reported that the Police Department had requested the <br />purchase of several new traffic signs at a cost not to exceed ~P~0.00 and both <br />the Safety and Finance Committee recommended that these be purchased. <br />It was moved by Mr. Taihiting9 seconded by Mr. Swanson, that these signs <br />be purchased, not to exceed X40.00. - <br />Rol1 Call: Ayes v I~~essrs Strater, 0atess, Whiting and Swanson. <br />Nays o None. <br />- - Motion carried <br />Mr. Strater, again reporting, said that, as the Pillage carried no <br />collision insurance on the Police Car, it eras the recommendation of the Safety <br />and Finance Committees that_we carry a ~100~.00 deductible Collision policy on <br />the Police Car to protect ourselves in the event an accident should render t'ne <br />police car a complete loss. - -~ <br />Mr.-Strater then presented three estimates, reeomtr~nding that Council <br />study two of diem. - <br />It was moved by Mr. 0a~ess, seconded by Mr: Strater, that we purchase <br />X100.00 deductible on the po].~.ce car from the company holding a comprehensive <br />policy on the same car. <br />Roll Calla Ayes ®Messrs Strater, 0atess, Whiting and Swanson. <br />Nays ~ None. ~ .. . <br />Motion carried <br />A. great deal of discussion was then had by.Council on the advisability <br />of liability insurance for the Police car. It was turned over to the Safety <br />Committee and ~. Edelman for further study.. -~ " <br />T'~re Strater then said that he had anew- prop®sal for gasoline and <br />service for the police car, which he read to Council. This letter from the <br />Mayfield S.O.M. Shell service and another-offering a preventative maintenance <br />service on the police car from the same company was considered by Council. <br />It was then moved~by Mr. Catess, seconded by Mr. Strater, that the <br />village accept this offer of preventative maintenance as set forth by the <br />Mayfield S.OaM.
