Mr. Strater said that' due to the increase in population in
the Village, the Committee felt that our Fire Arens Ordinance should be amplified
to prohibit hunting in Mayfield Village. ...There was considerable comment from
the Council and the spectators, bringing out the fact that outsiders were
taking advantage of our present Ordinance and compelling children to stay
indoors during hunting season. Mr. Beard, seconded by Mr. Strater, then
introduced Ordinance No. 524 entitled, "An Ordinance Prohibiting the
Discharge of Fixearms ~Tithin the Village Limits and Repealing Ordinances
Nos. l.?~1. and x.58,1 which ordinance was read to Council. It was moved by
Mr. Strater, seconded by 1'Ir. sc~anson, that the rules of law requiring an
Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be suspended.
Roll Cpl: Ayes - ,Messrs Taylor, Strater, Beard, Oatess ~ ~,ranson.
Nays -None.
Motion carried
_ Rubs Suspended
It eras moved by I1ro Strater, seconded by I'Ir. Mr. Strater said that in spot checks he had made, there
seemed to be not more than a hundred or .so in force, and, as it had become
increasingly difficult to enforce these ordinances unless those officials
concerned had copies, his committee recommended that our ordinances be
indexed and sufficient copies made of the acti~re ordinances. to place them
in the haaids of all our village officials. .Mayor Endress reported that he
had talked of this matter with the Clerk, and arrangements could be made
to clear up this situation, if Council so wished. He further recommended
to Council that an appropriation be made for a complete card index file,
together withstencils, of all the important ordinances in effect that
were concerned with the operation of our Village.
The following unnumbered Resolution was introduced by Mr. Oatessa
"Resolved that Council Appropriate from the General Fund the Sum of X150.00
for the Purpose of T°Taking An Index of the Village Ordinances."
It was moved by Mr. Beard, seconded by I'~r.
