1 <br />Roll Call: Ayes Messrs Hardman, Sloa~a and Cass. <br />Nays,- Messrs Franz, Ziaagleman and Heiss. <br />Motion defeated <br />Ordinance defeated. <br />Mayor Swanson then turned over to the Clerk, the bond of Hovrard <br />Schulz, special policeman. . <br />At this point TIr. Edelman notified the A~Iayor that he would have <br />bonds preparod and sent to the Pdayor and the new Clerk and Treasurer <br />Mr. Edelmaxz also reported that 'cYie contract with the County. had been signed <br />and said that he had also written a vigorous letter regarding the lack of <br />sewage treatment,.vrhich ho proceeded to read to the Council. This letter <br />was so vigoraus and expressed the oginions of all present so clearly that <br />Council vras delightedo <br />1 <br />Mr. Edelrlan then proceeded to administer the oath of office to <br />b2ayor Gustav Swanson, the new Clerk, Herbert R, Tadhiting, and the new <br />Treasurrer, John Gibb. The Oath of Offico vri11 be administered to the new <br />Council at the first meeting in 1950® Mrs Hrn~vard Hardman, Jr. vras also <br />sVrorn in as Constable. <br />Fire report for December 19th was read to Council showing no <br />fire calls since last meeting. Chief Porter reported 9 fire calls for the <br />year, 2 resuscitator calls and 5 mutual aid calls and said that his depar'~~nent <br />had been thoroughly trained in the use of the resuscitator, given a Red Cross <br />first aid course and were planning to attend the Lake Erie Training School <br />when it openedo <br />The Police Report was as follotivs: 42 traffic arrests, 2 hospital <br />trips, 2 accident, 1 auto theft arrest, 20 police calls and 1 mutual aid <br />call, covering the period from November 21 to December 19th, 1949. <br />-Mayor Swattson reported fines from November 21st to December 19th <br />in the amount of 41610 for traffic violatiolas and $10620 for trespassing <br />violation. - <br />Mayor Swanson also read a letter from the Oliver Corporation <br />( &Sr. R. Bruce Scott) thanking the Village for the courteous treatment by <br />our police during an_auto accident (Mr. Hardman being on duty at this time). <br />Also in a preliminaay report ~'Zayor Swanson said he thought the Village would <br />turn in a few dollars short of X3500 in traffic fines for the year. <br />Mr. Hardman then introduced Resolution No. 165 entitled: "~~~: <br />Resolut:ior_ Accepting the Amounts and Rates as Determined by the Budge:b <br />Commission and Authorizing the Necessary Tax Levies and Certifying Them to <br />the County Auditor,'t which resolution vras. read_to the Council.
