Godfrey introduced Ordinance I`Io. 347, entitled "An Ordinance <br />to Prohibit Gambling in the Village of It4ayfield", which was read to the <br />Council. It was moved b~* PtIrs. Cass, seconded bar Nr. I',layor Swanson stated <br />that I'~r. Dickson would probably accopt a. salary of ~225s00 a month. N1r. <br />Godfrey pointed ou'c that the state requirement of a.,3 mill levy for the <br />police pension fund in all villaes having more than one policeman z^rill <br />probably cost the Village somevrhere bet-~rreen X4,000.00 and ,?5,000000 a year. <br />The Clerlf also distributed copies of a report prepared by him concerning <br />the cost of police protection. to the Village in the past and an estimato <br />i^or future cost. After some discussion, Mayor Svranson suggested that the <br />matter be deferred. for further consideration at the next Council meeting <br />and that, subject to Council approval, he vrould extend the probationary <br />period for Dlr. Dixon and all special policemen until that timoo It was <br />moved by ~'lrs.
