It was moved by Dr. 'Maltz, seconded by ~r~. Endress, that Ordinance AIo. Za.26 be passed as read. Roll Calls Ayes - tiYaltz, Sloan, Endress, Cass and Oatess. Alays - None. Motion Carried Ordinance Passed. Mayor Swanson read a letter from the Regional Planning Commission, itemizing the statement of services rendered during the year 1952. Dr. Siplock was again recognized by Council. He asked if Council felt there was any section of the Village which should be planned immediately. Council felt it would be better for the Committee to recommend-a.ny futuxe areas for planning. Mayor Svranson reported on the Safety and Service Committee meeting held on January 12, 19530 The matter of a contract with Joseph C. Kessler for servicing the police and fire equipment was considered. This service v-~uld be an increased amount in opera.ting.expense; -however it would mean better service, and discount on parts, No action was taken and the matter is still under consideration. The Committee .reviewed the letter received from Pdr. and Mfrs. Thrush regarding the parking situation on their tree lawn at Glenview and S.O.fl~R. Roads. The Committee recommended that six No Parking-Signs be purchased, two to be put on each street, i.e. Bonnieview, Glenview, Seneca. The committee was also in favor of placing signs on these three streets prohibiting parking day or night. Twelve signs would be necessary, four for each street. ll~. Scheuring entered the meeting. It ,was moved by Mr. Endress, seconded by Dr. Waltz, that these necessary signs be purchased and installed at the designated places. Roll Call: Ayes - Waltz, Sloan, Endress, Scheuring, Cass & Oatess. D?ays - None® Motion Carried The Committee also recommended that the maximum hours of Special Police be increased from 125 to 175 hours per month, and that a second policeman for special duty be appointed in order to relieve the Service Director of Police duty, and to help out in case of sickness, Dr. Waltz introduced Ordinance No, i~27 entitled: "An Ordinance to Amend Sections 2 and 3.of Ordinance No. 102, regarding Appointment, Tenure and Compensation of the Marshall and Chief of Police and Special Policemen's s 2.
