It was moved by Dr. Waltz, seconded by Mr.~Oatess, that Resolution <br />Ito. 228 be passed as read. - <br />Roll Calla Ayes - Waltz, Sloan, Endres, Scheuring., Oatess, <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion Carried <br />Resolution Passed <br />Mr. Edelman read a letter from 1tQr. and Mrs. McGurer, objecting to <br />the special assessment. cost. on SOM Center Road Sec. #1 Water Main. The <br />objection was dated July 2I~, and was past the 30 day period allowed after <br />the publication notice dated May 9, 16, 23, 1953. Mr. Edelman reported <br />that he would answer the letter. <br />Mayor Swanson read a latter received from Corrigan, Corrigan & McMahon, <br />Attorneys, on behalf of.li~r. Sandy Bordonaro, who states that the rabbit <br />hutches in back of the farm equipment building were burned without his <br />permission, and the paint on the existing building was scortched. <br />Mr. Everett Robertson was present, and reported that on June 21, <br />19539 he talked with Mr. Bordonaro., and asked him what could be done to <br />clean up-the premises behind the building owned by Mr. Bord.onaro, which <br />is directly across the street from Mr. Robertson's residence. Mr. Bordonaro <br />reportedly stated that he had tried to sell. the hutches, and could not, <br />so felt the best solutionsT~was to .burn, them, but that he would like to <br />have Mr. Porter present with some fire equipment. Mr. Robertson contacted <br />Mr. Porter, and the rabbit hutcYies were burned the following evening. Mr. <br />Porter stated that the paint on the existing building was not burned, but <br />apparentl~r pealed from the stream of water vuriichA was played on it to <br />prevent arty possible burningo <br />- Mr. Wieland also stated that he and Mr. Scheuring had both been <br />present at Leppelmeier's Station one evening when Mr.. Bordonaro said he <br />felt the hutches should be burned. <br />Mr. Edelman advised that the Village would not be liable under the <br />circumstances, and that he would so notify. the attorneys for ltd. Bordonaro. <br />Mr. Sloan asked what could be done about repairing the broken side- <br />walkso Mr. Edel.rian will check on the Ordinance pertaining to sidewalks <br />and report his findings at the next regular meeting of Council. -~ <br />Mr. Oates reported that Mr. Bordonaro wants to build a canopy <br />over the sidewalk on the West side of his store, for the housing of fruits <br />and vegetables.. There would also be an enclosure in order that the <br />merchandise could be left there at all times. The Board of Revue apparently <br />clid not recognize this as-being necessary. It was further reported that the <br />barn on the east side of the store was condemned before Mr. Bordonaro purchased <br />the property, and was to b e used for storage only temporarily, then torn <br />do~rn' but this has never been donee - <br />It was. moved by Mr. Sloan, seconded by Mr. Endress, that Mro Oates <br />contact ~. Bordonaro to request that the corner and its surroundings be <br />cleaned up as originally promised. After discussion Mr. Sloan withdrew his <br />motion and Imo. Endress his second. 5e <br />
