Roll Callm Ayes- ilessrs Taylor9Wedler,Strater'Brotan,Zorn & Hopkins.
Nays - None.
Motion carried
R Ordinance Passed
Mro Strater then said-that it was our intention to replace one car every
year and that we wan-ted to wait and get a 1959 model. Mr. Strater then spoke of
the fact that Car 153 had a great deal of mileage and was at a point that could
cause considerable expense and advised that Council now-advertise for bids for
a new police car. Mr. Strater said that if we aduertised now it would be about
three months before we could get the caro
It was then moved by Mrs. Brotifn, seconded by Mr, Strater, that we
advertise for bids for a new police car, with a bid for Car 153 to be credited
on the price of° a new car. -
Ro11 Call: Ayes - Messrs Taylor,Wedler,S trater,Brown,Zora1 & Hopkins
Ilays - None.
1"1otion carried.
Mr, Hopkins then took over to explain about the Scott Airpacks obtained
by the Fire Department.° The'Fire Department had requested that the Village
obtain-two air tanks for. this equipment,- as it was cheaper than -renting such
equipment. Tt-To tanks would cos-t $110.00. Council then advised that this be
tabled f or the time being until finances were in better shape.
Mr. TnTedler, reporting f'or the Zoning and Pl.anning Commission, said that
they had met on'the firs-t Tuesday of the mon-th and considered a request from
Mr. Durrel Post to subdivide his property on SOM Roado This request was granted
by the Zoning and -Fl.arming Corrunission.
Mayor Endress then spolze of the fact that the Fire Departanent had been
in need of inetal hose bridges, which would have cost around $1070005 and that
the.Fire Department had constructed these bridges themselves. TZayor Endress
then complimented the Fire Department arxd said that the Village appreciated
their eff'orts o
As a great many members from Seneca, Glenview and Bonnieview Roads were
present??to consult -with Council on the repavi.ng of these stree:ts, Mayor Endress
opened the meeting to 'Lhese people. There was some opposition to Councilts plan
to pave these s treets, sparked by Mrs Nickerson and Mr, Skirbunt. A great deal
of the evening was then taken uD in hearing these people and explaining various
proceedings, plans and costs. There seemed to be mixed feelings among those
present as to whether the streets should or should not be paved. While some
demanded that the s treets not be paved, others were just as determined.that they
should. It was again brought out by Council, that these streets were too
expensive to maintain in their present condition and posed a hazard to the people
livi.ng on them and to the Fire and Police Depar-tment. As the main reason again,
re-paving seemed to be the cost. Council was aslced to look favorably on the
possibility of splitting up some of the larger lots to reduce the costm Iqayor
Endress said that each case tiqould have to be presented to the Zoning and Planning
Board and eonsidered by them on its merits.
30
