Mr. Grootegoed reported that his Committee had discussed a joint
problem of the Service and Police Department affecting the maintenance of
village-owned vehicles and the constant need for protecting and washing, cleaning
and maintaining village equipment. The Safety Committee recommended that the
Building Committee undertake the study of the construction of a storage garage.
Mr. Wedler, reporting for the Zoning and Planning Commission, said
that they had met on May 9th and studied two properties, - Aintree Park and the
Wiesberg property, both of which had requested permission to erect multiple
dwellings. Mr. Wedler said that the Commission had studied these requests and
made recommendations to these people, which were noca in the process of being
carried out.
Mayor Endress said that, when Pioneer Paving began working in back of
,iHaningway Drive, he had an idea and had asked Mr. Peterson if he could get an
estima.te from these people on what it would cost to pave Hemingway Drive to
the back line. Mayor Endress then read a letter from The Pioneer Paving and
Construction Company estimating a lump sum cost of $800.00. This f igured about
$5,00 a square yard, Mr. Peterson said he thought this price.was too high and
recommended that we 'give the Service Department $200.00 and let them slag this
piece and let it rest for six months; this would keep the road the way it was
and some additional slag could be put on occasionally to take care of any weare
Niayor Endress then said that he would like Council to consider an
ordinance that applied to the construction of all new buildings and homes
whereby we insist on the inclusion of an incinerator which would cut down on
the cost of our collections. Council then asked about existing homes and Mr.
Edelman said that we could do nothing about these; that we couldn"t compel
them to put in disposals but could quit picking up,garbage after reasonable
noticee. They would have to get rid of their garbage and would have to put?.iq
something.
Mr. Grootegoed, seconded by Mr. Belzer, then introduced Ordinance No.
700 entitled: "An Ordinance Requiring the Installation of Incinerators or
Disposals on All 1Vew Construction in the Village of Mayfield" which_ordinance
was read to Council. This ordinance was then placed on its f irst reading.
Mayor Endress said that he had something else Council should consider;
that he had nunerous.•phone calls regarding the paving on Worton Park; that it
was in very bad shaPe and Mr. Wieland was getting after it as soon as possible.
Mayor Endress went on to say that shooting it again would do no good in the
backo Mayor Endress went on to say that we had an estimate from the Pease
Engineering Co. on this area, but the cost of a storm sewer ran up an astro-
nomical figure on this area and that he had asked Mr. Peterson what sort of
buried storm and run off sewer would fit , this situation and not make it out
reason. Mayor Endress said that the paving in the Worton Park area was in a
horrible state and it was his opinion that something would have to be done.
There was a great deal of discussion in Council on this matter. A4r. Edelman
. . 2.
