Mr, Grootegoed, seconded by Mr. Belzer, then introduced Ordinance <br />No. 708 entitled: "An Ordinance Accepting the Bid of The Standard Oil Company <br />for Gasoline"* which ordinance was read to Councile This ordinance was then <br />placed upon its first reading. (* and Motor Oil) <br />The Clerk then read a letter from Mrs. Bardou asking f or money for the <br />Mayfield Recreation Council, saying that she needed it desperately. There was <br />some discussion in Council, inasmuch as our Welf are Committee chairman was ill <br />and it was felt that no recommendation should be made without approval of the <br />Welfare Committee. <br />Mrm Bennett, seconded by Mr. Grootegoed, then introduced a resolution <br />authorizing the Clerk to pay the Mayfield Recreation Council the sum of $250.00 <br />upon approval of the Chairman of the Welf are Committeea <br />Roll Call: Ayes --Messrs Zorn,Bennett,Grootegoed and Belzer. <br />Nays - None. <br />Mbtion carried <br />Resolution passed <br />Council then took up the 1961 budget and went over each item again to <br />be sure that the Budget Committee had not missed anythingo Mr. Grootegoed, <br />seconded by Mro Bennett, then introduced Resolution No. 478 entitled: "A <br />Resolution Adopting a Budget for the Year 1961", which resolution was read <br />to Council. This resolution was then placed upon its first reading.- . <br />• Mayor Endress then told Council that he had a call from the Mayor <br />of Mayfield Heights and there was a chance to get S.O.M. Road widened this <br />year from Wilson Mills Road South; that•the State Highway Department had <br />asked Mayfield Heights to pick up the tab for the engineering cost, which <br />would amount to about $24,000o00. Mayor Frantz was asking how much of a <br />token of this cost our Village was willing,to assume. Mayor Endress said <br />that he•had told Mr. Frantz that he had no idea, and told Council that we <br />were going to be faced with some kind of a payment on this project. Ma?or. <br />Endress then asked Mr. Edelman what kind of a payment we could get by:with, <br />as our water.lines were closer to the road and.we might have to move them <br />and there was no room for this in the budget that had just been passed, Mr. <br />Edelman failed to make any definite statement on this question. <br />Mr. Peterson then said that he could not make a report on Metro <br />Park Drive; that the road side berms had been fixed, but the ditches on private <br />property needed a two to one slope; that the-vert.icle sides of these ditches <br />would cause trouble - this condition was about two lbts in lengthe Mr.. Peterson, <br />said that the pavement was one of the best in the village; but the berms were <br />not as wide; as he woul'd like to see them; that one of the' •ditches at tYie erid? '. <br />of the road had grown up to weeds, but Mr. Zorn said that a new house was =-.-= - <br />going up there and the ditch would be moved back about three feet. Mr. <br />Edelman then warned Council that.you could not have any conditions in a <br />dedication ordinance and these changes could not be put in an ordinance. - <br />Mr. Peterson then remarked that if Mr. Zorn did not make these changes, he <br />could not f ace people in the future. Council then agreed that they would <br />pass a dedication ordinance but not put iti in f orce or authorize the <br />recording until these changes were made. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2.
