Mr, Stra,ter then reported that we had the prob].em of dogs running at <br />].ax°ge to combat and said the.fixst step shoul.d be to rewrite our present <br />ordinance. and bring it up to date. - Mro Falk suggested aclding a section <br />perla7a.z?ng anyone guilty of dropping off -animals in our village. The <br />old orclinance was then p]aced_in the hands of our solicitor for rewriting, <br />with the suggesti.on that plenty-of teeth be iricorpora°ted in th? s ordinance. <br />Mr. Strater then saa.d that, for want,of a garage9 the police car was <br />left outside. This was provin.g a nuisance to the police dur5ng anergency <br />use as a.t sep-etisaes took ten minutes to scrape off the snow and ice before <br />the car coul.d be used. He said garaging the car outside also gave adequate <br />lrnowledge of its whereabouts to anyone considerialg an un.lawful act. To <br />overcome this, Mr. Dixon at considerable expense had remodsled his garage <br />and it was the recommendation of the Safety Committee that garage rent <br />be paid for housin.g the poliee car. Mre Strater also brought up the fact <br />that in the past, whenever a suitable gaz°age.could be found, we had rented <br />it for this purpose. Council agreed that -Ehe police car should be put <br />undei cover and Mr. Fa].k, seconded by rsrse Brown, then 3ntroduced Resolution <br />No. 322 entitJ.ec3: "A Resolution Atxthorizang the Rental of a Garage for the <br />Po73ce Ca.r" 9 which resolution was read to Couneile <br />It wa,s moved by 1-2r. Strater, seconded by Nr. Hoplci.ns, that the rules <br />of ]aw.requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions be <br />suspended.. . He said <br />that the Committee wa.s worlcing on a un3.fied code, requiring rubbisla to be in <br />suitable containex^s. and of. a size that could be.Yiandled conveniently by one ma.n. <br />Mro Stx^ater went on to say that no other municipality picked up rubbish £rom <br />commercial establishments.and Xra Wieland was gettin.g,in some instances, a <br />load at a tiunee As Rubbish Co].lection was nmr takuig the .bettex° parc of Nre <br />Wielan@'s time during the week, he asked that council give the matter of <br />Coramexc3.a.1 Collection some thought. <br />Ma.yor Endress then asked that•Council approve a change in the rate ger <br />case paid to ovxe police cl.erkA He statecl that.the work was all done in the <br />Town Hall_and that the polzce clerk had taken over most of the work done <br />_at home by oux police to keep their records up to date. With the present <br />amount of work9 May'or Endress fe1.t the rate shoul.d be raised from 85 cents to <br />41.00 per casee <br />3•
