Mr. Edelman reported that he had a letter from the Coixnty Comnissioners <br />setting forth t he new law regarding Justices of the Peace and Coalstables. <br />The Conuni.ssion noi.r sets theit° salary.and compensation and has divided the <br />County into Districtse Our district, comprising the municipalities of Gates <br />Mi1.1.s, Hun.ting Va11ey, and Ma.yfield Village, is to have one justiee of the <br />peace. .Inasmuch as Mr. Stannard did not petition9 although he received <br />some votes, had not qualified and did not wi.ph the position, we d:id not <br />have to worry aboui; a justice of the peacee tnlhen asked about the status af <br />our Constable? Mro. Ede7man said he was "A man without a Count2-y=". Mr. <br />Ede7.ma.n wiL1 report at the next meeting, the name of the Ju,stice serviilg <br />our di.strict. In,asmuch as? a portion of Mr. Robley's prcperty, on tiTi].son galls Road <br />has been.subdivicled, and a part of it;is the proposed Rob7.ey Lane, Mr. Robley <br />stated °tha.t he would like to pay up the rema.ining installmeni:s of the Vrater <br />ma.in assessment on Robley Lane, before it becomes a dedicated street. He <br />therefore presented Council with checks in the total amount of $274.24 to <br />pay the remaining installments of the assessmen-t on the Robley Lane stripa <br />Plrso Brown; seconded by Mr. Falk' then i.rrtroduced R*?solution No. 327 <br />entitled: "A Resolution to Qancel the Installments of the'Water Maan <br />Assessrrlent for the Tax geaxs 1955 to 1962, Both Inclusive, on Ce2-tain <br />Premises of Le Roy Robley Abut-ting Zii7.son Mi.lls Road" 9 which resolution was <br />reacl to Council. It was moved by Mr. Stratex°' seconded by Mr. Swanson9 <br />that the rules of law requit°ing a resolut3.on to be read on three separate <br />occasions be suspended. <br />Roll Call: Ayes. - Messrs Swanson, Strater' Brawn, F'alk and Hopkins. <br />Nays - None. . - , <br />- Motion cas-ried <br />. Strater asked <br />tha.t they come back to the Sa.fety and Service Committee for furEher discussion. <br />Mayor Endr°ess then reported that he had received a petition signed <br />by 54 residents of the Highland Road-S()M Road axea relative to a Target <br />Range. This petition asked that Ordinance No. 524 be amended to eLzminate <br />Section 2, ti-rhich permitted the use of fire arms on a regul.ated range. Mr. <br />Endress said that he understood the range had been used by the Pol.ices <br />and several Gun Clubs, and because the petition represented such a large <br />portion of the residents in that area, should be given irrQr?ediate consider- <br />ation. <br />6e
