r <br />_ Iiinutes of the Special Meetisxg <br />October 24, 1956 <br />The Council of the Village of Ma.yfield met in special meeting at the <br />Village Ha11 at 8:00 P. M. pursuan-t to notice-given to all members of-Council <br />according to lati-r, . TSa.yor Lndress presiding. <br />Roll CaLla Present -llessrs Taylor,Ziedl.er,Strater,Brown,Fallc & Hopkins. <br />Absent ? None. - <br />Mayor Endress then advised Council that the main r-eason for this special <br />meeting was to consider the resurfacing of tidorton Park Boulevard from TnTilson <br />tiills ?o the cu].verto The Road was full of _pot holes and, with Uri.nter weatlzer <br />threatening at any moment, our Service Director was :Eearful of wha.t salt could <br />do to the road in this coridition. Mayor Endress then pointed out that he had a quotation from a paving company for $875000 for fillino in these holes and <br />resurfacing and a price of 27 cents per square yard for any additional re- <br />surfacing beyond the culvert' in Ijemingway Ftoad. <br />. Mro DeMore then brougnt out an article sent to Coun.cil in 19539 an <br />which he had laid out a program of repair, telling of the?existi.ng condition <br />of all the streets and advising i.n the first year •the sh.ap'ing of a11 ditches, <br />adjustment of driveways and application of slag and tar, etc. During the <br />second year fresh drains were to be installed, all pot holes fiJ_7_ed and the <br />roads re-surfaced. <br />Mr. Strater inquired if this proceduxe was the sa.me for upper tiJorton <br />Park. Mr. DeMore said that this portion of tiiorton was to have a useable <br />suxface, so -that no money Vrould be spent until after improvements were in, <br />and that BonnievieUr was the only street that could be permanently paved, as <br />all improvemeryts were inm - <br />Mr. DeMore brought out tha.t Wor-L-oiz Park was to be re-surfaced and <br />ditcned in February of 1955-and tar slag and tar were applied, but the ditches <br />werE not put in, as the people clid -no-E want them. - <br />N?a.yor Lndress then said that Worton Park repavinj ti?ra.s supposed to °be <br />a two -shot j ob and that is what the people col].ected for, but then it turned <br />irrto a one shot job and that 'Uhis xresurfacing now necessary was supposed to be <br />the _second part of a two shot proposition. 1'1r. IeMore said that he could not <br />remember that such was the case. <br />, The Clerk then checked the Village Ledge? and found that abutting <br />property owners on Worton Park had contributed $2,132.80 and the vil.lage was to <br />contribute 25 percent of the cost of resurfacingo Due to the fact that ditches <br />were _not. installed, the total cost was brought dotan _from an estisnate of $2975.00 <br />to $2052.98. As the Villa.ge was to pay 25 percent of the cos-t there still <br />remained approximately $900,00 left for this resurfacinge <br />l.
