Motion carried <br />Resolution passed <br />. Mr. strater then reported that the Commi.ttee wou].d like an ordinance <br />govez°ning sw.unming pools and asked Mr. Edelman to prepare one. <br />Mr. Strater also reporrted that Mr. Shortle had completed his Police <br />traixing an.d said that he was happy •to announce that Mr. Shox°tle had done a good <br />j ob. <br />T`lr. strater then disctiissecl the Police Ord.ina=e and said that, while it <br />created the position of Chief and Patro],man, the Comrnittee would like to see <br />another rank5ng officer on hand for emergencies and asked tha.t our ord3nance be amended to create the rank of Sergeant of Police. <br />lr. S-trater, seconded by I4r. Taylor, then antroduced Ordinance No. 583 <br />entitlecl: "An Ordinance to *ovide. for the Appointment, Tenure and Compensation <br />of Members of the police Department, to Add the Position of Sergeant of Police, <br />and to Repeal Ord.inance No. 4799 or Amended by drelinance No. 5489" which <br />ordznaxice was read to Council. It was moved by 14r. Hopkins, seconcled by Mr. TaJlor, that the rules of laR <br />requ.iring an ordinance to be read on.three separate occasions be suspendeda <br />Ro11 Cal7.: Ayes - Messrs Taylor, Wedler, Strater, Brcnm, Falk & Hopkinso <br />Nays - None. , . <br />I°Iotion carried <br />.
